Hello to everyone, here are my plays ... Brand new to these boards. Hope I can contribute. Three plays in college so far this week ... BYU +7 -- The under-performance of the BYU offense continues to baffle. Cougs seem to never GET big plays, but are prone to GIVING UP big plays. Could be because two WRs that are matchup advantages, but seldom get used deep. QB that can't see over the line could be a problem. Nonetheless, going to be suckered in again by the Cougs who couldn't take advantage of out-manned Utah last week due to series of flukes and sleep-walking first half on offense. Want no piece of Boise offense which will have its struggles vs. this BYU defense. Getting 7 (or buying to it) is just too hard to pass up with BYU, which if ever a clean effort comes about, is a very formidable team. Cougs have actually shown up big in recent years as a dog to good competition, i.e. Oklahoma upset in '09 and 1-point Texas loss last year. Roll the dice with these points because Boise offense isn't to be trusted vs. this class of D quite yet. TCU -17 -- Keep on fading horribly coached Cavs who are giving back all of last year's goodwill. QB Rocco has taken a step back, as has the offense. If you saw the way Penn St. threw it around on Cavs, then you have to like TCU's chance to the same and more. TCU run game takes a hit without top RB James. But TCU defense should keep Cavs down while offense lines up big plays. Don't see how Cavs get back up on road for second straight after conference opening loss. Syracuse +1 -- All the value is out of this line, but Minnesota is an untested 3-0 and I'll gladly get suckered at +1 given the circumstances. Without QB Gray, all play making abilities of the Goph offense is gone. And they will need to make plays vs. Orange because QB Nassib will get his. Cuse has played solid sked so far with Northwestern loss looking better by the week and USC loss still a solid showing vs. good, not great competition. Probably going to get on ND at some point with that line crumbling in Michigan's favor. Can't get visions of Irish dominance that was squandered away late in last year's game out of my head.
Good stuff and welcome. I really am liking the BYU and Cuse plays.
Here are my plays for whatever week this was. Last week's posted plays were 2-1. I won't give myself credit for ND because I didn't actually play it. Ohio State +3 -- This class of defense vs. Michigan St.'s offense is an obvious. I don't think any of Ohio St.'s opponents have brought about the best in them. I know the performances weren't considered "impressive" but getting a lead and sitting on it is what can happen. They were bored. If Ohio St. somehow gets a decent lead and gets Sparty of its comfort zone, then the sparks could really fly. The Buckeyes are by far the B10's fastest team and that should come in handy vs. an opponent that prefers to grind. Tennessee +13 -- Not a fan of Mark Richt when he's laying big wood. This just strikes me as one of those games that end with Dooley looking bewildered by something that screwed his team over late. Obviously, that would mean a cover. Everyone chalks up the Vols as a fraud after being exposed by Florida. Not sure I agree as the offensive talent is legit and the defense is better than shown. No reason that can't be competitive. Texas -3 -- I don't think anyone realizes just how far Okie State has fallen offensively. This is the most pressure the Pokes will have faced this season and I have to believe that with Texas' pass rush bearing down, the mistakes will follow. The Longhorns still aren't great on offense, but they're no longer in a coma. Better defense and better ground game should help Horns get this one into the flow they want.
On the other side of the Ohio St game, but wishing you luck on your picks. Wife is going to OSU TX game, I am going to LV to hang with my sister. That OSU Texas game should be a good one, the total of 66 (screen has an opener of 70) is higher than I thought as Okla St has QB issues with questions on def (they could not stop Ariz at all) and Texas likes to run the ball. Record here: 5-1 Ole Miss +12 -- Bad setting here for A&M and I like some of what I've seen out of the Rebs in recent weeks. They are not pushovers. Three turnovers vs. both Texas and Bama no doubt hurt the cause. If Ole Miss corrects that, this looks like a TD game either way. Wash St. +16 -- You're just gonna have to trust that Wazzu will get better as the season gets longer. The offense is already showing signs of that just that and you don't want to be riding this Oregon State laying big wood off two huge roads wins at UCLA and Zona. Back home, they will enjoy the spoils of their hot start, not take the big underdog serious and find themselves in need of an escape. Ohio St. -3 -- Again, the Buckeyes are simply the fastest team in the B10. That's not saying much anywhere else, but this isn't anywhere, it's the B10. The number looks cheap for being at home against a team the Buckeyes had on the ropes last season before Nebraska stormed back at home. Not much has changed about Neb since that game. But Ohio St. certainly is better managed under Urban Meyer. Win at Mish St coulda been a lot bigger for OSU last week, but some big turnovers prevented it and saved value for us here.
Record here: 8-1 Tennessee +3 -- Love getting to this point of the season and finding teams who haven not played a good/capable passer yet. They tend to be shell shocked on defense unless they're able to unleash an incredible pass rush and make the point moot. I don't see MSU as having that type of pass rush, so I do see Vols QB Bray finding plenty of room in this one. Tennessee's defense is no bueno, but they are off a bye week and I expect some improvement here. I want to see what MSU is like when under serious pressure to score points. A couple big plays at any point by Tenn could put MSU in the down-double-digtits scenario I'm hoping for. South Carolina +3 -- Just no reason to see LSU getting a margin here. The Tigers are terrible on offense and don't figure to get any better against this class of defense. I love the swagger being generated at USC right now and hitting the road off a smashing win over a marquee opponent might seem like a great spot for a letdown to most, but not me. The more trustworthy offense is South Carolina's and with the right approach, i.e. waiting out LSU, I think the 'Cocks are going to get this done rather easily and getting 3 in a scenario in which the favorite probably can't win by much more than that without some miraculous circumstances is a great setting. NOTE: I will be parlaying these two games on the money line as well.
Second half play on So Carolina?
I didn't. Very disappointing to go 1-1 ... especially the way Tennessee collapsed down the stretch. But maybe lucky to get South Caro backdoor. This was a shit week. Just not many opportunities. Volume will drop from now until bowls, but watch out during the bowls because I'm not kidding you or anyone, I have been deadly the best the past four years.

You should watch the replay of the last 4 minutes of the LSU game and I think you may reconsider your "maybe lucky" statement. Was truly one of the luckiest backdoors of all time IMO.
I watched entire game. The second-to-last drive for South Caro (in which they scored a TD to cover) certainly had some fortunate breaks. However, I'm not about to say covering the overall bet was a case of being wrong but getting paid. South Caro was firmly in the cover or on a push for most of the game and until idiot QB Shaw put LSU in a great spot with his inexplicable INT early 4th qtr, the bet was in great shape. And given what happened to me with Tennessee (go from push to loss on amazing catch), I'm not giving back the money.
