It is the play to make in that situation. Safest thing to do.
Those of us who have lost a game with a +7 dog when they are down 1 and (correctly) let the opponent score a TD to make it 8 in order to get the ball back feel your pain.
Although I haven't seen it, Shaw apparently took one snap on that last possession with 17 seconds on the play clock and the game clock running. That is why it was so wrong for Gamecock backers. Stupid is as stupid does.
So that's how it happened. I had turned it off because I assumed they could kneel it out. And then they took a delay penalty to move it from the 14 to the 9, making the end zone closer. Pretty fishy.
