50 % off at Palms

If i read it right you can use the 50% off at the palms and if your bill at one of the cafes listed is 50 dollars you pay 25

Even if you didn't read it right that's how it works.

The Palms coupon can be used for your room and at Gardunos, Blue Agave, the buffet, and 24/7. This is the strongest coupon in the MRB booklet, and you're wasting your money if you don't get the full $50.00 of value out of it. Read the rules; it's good for other things too.

I tried to use it the other day towards purchace of Palms merch in the gift shop and the clerk said that that coupon was no longer honored. I asked why and also said I was able to use it in the gift shop in the past, and he said I would need to speak to the manager about it. So I ended up not buying the stuff I wanted to get.

Speak to the manager?? What the f**k was I supposed to do? Try and find George Maloof? Like he would even take the time to even talk to a "Joe Punchclock" type like myself about a lousy coupon.

You might have considered speaking to the manager.

To explain that, although the coupon says it is valid only for:

charges in bars, hotel-room bill, charges in Palms Spa, admission to Rain or Ghost Bar, or charges in the following restaurants: Garduño’s, Blue Agave, Bistro Buffet, or 24/7 Café (not valid for food in restaurants not listed here, or in the food court)

that you nevertheless think it should also be valid in the gift shop.

That would be a delightful conversation, I'm thinking.

I'm going to have to check out the Palms gift shop, they must have some sweet stuff in there to generate such agita over a denied discount.

I had the same problem last December. The clerk stated that they stopped accepting them after June because too many coupons had been redeemed. Apparently they did not think as many people would use it. I ended up using at Gardunos. I used my 2010 in September at Gardunos as well and got full value.

You used to be able to use it in the Gift shop. Thats where I used mine last year.
Guess we won't anymore.

There's another caveat with the Palms $50.00/50% coupon. If you're using one of their promotion deals for your room, you can't use the coupon to help pay for your stay.

I can understand not being able to use it to help pay your room charge if you're already getting a promotional rate. But what about meals charged to your room? I'd imagine you could use it to pay for those, couldn't you?

Since I will be using the Palms 50% off coupon in two weeks to stay on a Thursday night and will be charging the food from the supported restaurants to my room to maximize the comp (i.e. $59 room rate plus at least $41 in restaurant charges yields $50 off at check out), I'm hoping it will be honored when I check out on Friday. I will make a point of asking when I check in Thursday and maybe give them the coupon then. It might not be available to offset the Friday morning breakfast charged to room though.

On a separate topic, the Palms has a promo for an $89 room rate Sun - Thur with $89 resort credit along with free entry into some of their clubs. Probably couldn't also use the MRB 50% off coupon against these room charges. But might be able to use the MRB coupon at a restaurant or the spa and pay for the service there, while you are on the $89 promo and charging other stuff to your room to make use of the $89 resort credit. All the restaurants might be available on the $89 promo.
