Am I the only one?

Over the past few years I've noticed that I'm using less and less coupons from the MRB. That's not saying that the quality of the coupons has gone down in fact they have gone up. As I get older and stay closer to my host casino I don't travel as much, even though I have always had a rental car. And in my opinion traveling around was the way to get the most value from the MRB. I think the turning point was the lose of the Gardunos coupon and the Flame coupon. This is the first year since 1990 that I am considering not renewing my membership. What do you think?
We don't use a lot of coupons either because we rarely leave downtown. Having said that, we do get our money back from coupons every year. The D $5-!00 free play has brought us $100 back every year. Also, even though the boards aren't what they used to be, we feel there is still good information that we pick up. We will renew for 2015!!
The value of the coupons has increased each year in my opinion. We easily get our money back with all the info provided by LVA and a lot of the coupons for free play which is where we play. We too get a lot of freebies from our home casinos, but we enjoy stepping out at times for a buffet etc elsewhere. Can't forget that last Jan we were able to use the 2 free nites at Cosmo-never been there before and wouldn't have gone without being a paid member-so yes well worth the price.
Depending on your personal goals you could use less coupons and get greater value. The 3 $25 match play coupons alone have a theoretical value of $35 and that pretty much pays for the membership all by itself

Even if you attach no value to the message boards and don't use the Palms 50% off coupon and the Flame is out, and even if you don't use any of the food/buffet or entertainment coupons (even the 2-for-1 buffet at what I assume to be your home casino, MSS), and even if you just don't like using the valuable non-downtown matchplay or slotplay coupons and even if you don't like using the very valuable downtown matchplay coupons and even if you don't want to use a drop of gas or transpo costs leaving downtown, you still get $45 worth of downtown free slotplay coupons (shown below) worth at absolute worst case EV of $40 even if you only play awful returning penny slots.

Binions $10 FSP
ElCo $10 FSP
4 Queens $10
Plaza $5 FSP
LVC $5 FSP
DT Grand $5 FSP.

Since you asked, that's what I think.

To me the information available on the website/message board (the recent posting on CET no longer comping the resort fee for Platinums likely saved me enough to pay the yearly fee for the rest of my life) and in the monthly newsletter is worth my yearly payment for the on-line addition. Any coupons we use are a bonus. We can usually use several of the dining/buffet coupons so I am guessing that alone covers what I pay. We also use most of the FSP coupons for video poker.
I like the newsletter for Vegas news more than I appreciate the coupons (I live in LV). I do think the majority go unused for us as, unlike some, we don't spend any time downtown. It's a decent value, but I do agree with the first post regarding the trend.

If Anthony wants to claim (as he usually does every year) this is the best year ever for the booklet, this particular year (and only this particular year) would I agree with him.

Isn't it pointless to include discount coupons for a restaurant if the restaurant no longer exists. How is the fact that a restaurant no longer exists somehow anthony's fault?

I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind, but based on this year's booklet, this trend (you all keep referring to) is IMO not down or even staying the course, but markedly up this year.

Thanks again anthony,

straub66--I agree with you...the book is a value if members only use a few coupons. I really like the Cosmo, great addition-Palms return looks good. I would have really like to seen M---and a double Mirage coupon included. I was one of the ones who did make some comments about MRB being a little soft past two years but cannot say that this year. The Staff and Anthony needs to hear when things a better and also be able to take a hit when the shit hits fan as well. Happy New Year to all members....
You need a rental car to truly get the most value out of the coupon book(s)....and then the money you save pretty much pays for the rental car and subscriptions. So I guess its sort-of a wash. You can go to Vegas with no coupons...or buy the coupons with a rental car. Either way its about a zero sum game.
