I'll agree that over the years we too have used less and less coupons, and it has nothing to do with the quality of them, either.
If we're getting comped room/food/beverage, free nights and a decent amount of free slot play, there's not a lot of incentive to venture out.
but abandon LVA, not by a longshot.
1) we still enjoy the newsletter.
2) costs have been kept in line.
3) and from our perspective, perhaps most important to us is that we give anthony, deke castleman and many others a lot of credit over the years for making us better vegas consumers.
vegas is a great place to visit, but in our case it probably took 4-5 years to find our eventual niche along the boulder strip. I can remember having used lva coupons to stay at the old
stardust on the strip (boy I miss that place), and also trying our luck downtown, I'm sure through comments or items/coupons in lva.
I know the first time we ever stayed at sam's town was on a half-price, room offer from the lva coupon book. and we were just passing through for one night on our way to yellowstone park. now we probably average three trips a year to st.
to those of you who aren't as old as we are, use the coupons as a chance to get out and see different parts of vegas. and if you happen to hit upon a place you like, and it eventually turns into a semi permanent thing, remember it was lva that might have led you to the front door.
having said all that it would be nice if this forum was as vibrant as it once was. LOL.
