Coupon Compiling

Hey all, I've read some interesting but old posts on websites about how it was easy to get matchplays (from the players club, from magazines at the convention center, etc.).

It sounded like an LVA + ACG coupon run aided by such efforts could make for a decent play. Is there much of these things still available in Vegas?
The short answer is "No."

Matchplay coupons have become much fewer, farther between, and smaller in value compared to 10 years ago. There's lots of reasons for this...coupon abuse, tough economy, and the Strip's general transition away from gaming towards other forms of entertainment.

- The Coast Casinos used to put matchplay coupons in the newspaper every month...not anymore.
- Many casinos used to give out free funbooks to anyone (not just hotel guests). The only places that still do this to my knowledge are Casino Roayle and 4-Queens....and the 4-Queens gambling coupons are only good for new signups.
- On rare occassions you might find a gambling coupon in one of the free magazines you get in your hotel room/rental car. Very rare occassions.
- The MRB/ACG used to have some big matchplays: $20-$25 for Rampart, $20 for Riviera. Now $10 is about as big as they get...most of them are only $5. You'll spend $5 in gas driving to the Rampart now to spend your $5 matchplay.

Still, if you couple the ACG along with the MRB you get a fair amount of play - certainly enough to make them worthwhile purchases. But the glory days are gone.
Yes, coupons used to be around more often but they're not around much anymore except for the ACG, LVA MRB and maybe some other source(s) if any. But always make sure to check in the Freebie Las Vegas magazines because you never know what you may find in there.

And also, if you are a hotel guest at Plaza Casino in Downtown LV, a coupon book which includes some table games matchplay coupons is (or has been) available when you check in.

If you fly Alllegiant into Vegas check the in flight magazine. Last week it contained offers for $50 matchplay at Golden gate and $10 free play at El Cortez (once a year). The GG required you to show boarding pass within 24hrs of landing.

"Insider" magazine had $5MP for Tuscany and a good only for one day play $10 get $10 at both Gold Coast and Orleans. Saw this mag at El Cortez near ATM closest to front desk and at Tuscany in the hallway by the bathroom near the coffee shop last week.

I of course was in on redeeming all of these freebies!

Excellent! Thanks for the information and hopefully I might do the Gold Coast coupon since I might go bowling there late one night (they have $1 Bowling between I think 12 Midnight and 8 AM). Does anyone know the Slot Club booth hours at Gold Coast?

Gold Coast booth opened at 8 when I was there last year--I think open until midnight.

Thanks for the info on the Gold Coast coupon--will look for the mag when trying the El Cortez ATM promo next week.
Thanks for that information! I wonder if Gold Coast would allow one coupon per year from each source, the LVA MRB coupon plus this magazine coupon?

And so if the booth closes at Midnight, if I get over there, I will be sure to do it all either before Midnight or after 8AM but preferably before Midnight.

Unlike El Cortez, I've never had a problem combining LVA and ACG coupons on the same visit to Gold Coast--hope it works out for you!
We were there in January and took our boarding pass to the Golden Gate where we found out that the $50 is two $25 match play chips. I don't know about you but I can't make a $25 at the Golden Gate. So.... what happened was some very nice people in line offered to take the chips off our hands. I hope it worked out for them.
Back when rampart had $25 mtchplay coupies, I was accompanied (rarer now) and BW put her 25 on black while mine sat red. I remember winning but wishing I hadn't. good luck!
