First New MROs Posted

It's a slow process obtaining sign-off on new MROs, since many of our partners are unfamiliar with the new program, but the first new offers have been posted, including 2-for-1 room offers at Golden Gate and El Cortez Cabana Suites, plus the $7.77 room offer at the newly remodeled Gold Spike. There's also an additional offer for Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show at the Riviera, and 10% off all rentals/packages at Exotic Car Rental. This is just the beginning of the MRO program for 2011, with plenty more offers in the works pending final approval.

Exciting news, thank you.
Will all the MROs be limited to one a year? I'm especially wondering about the hotel offers?
They will vary. Those up now are one-per-year.

Re: the one-per-year. Last October when the Terrible's coupon first came out, we used it right away thinking it was for that month only. Does that mean we can use one for this year also? Thank you.
Only once. Since it was so close to the end of last year, we agreed to make it a 2011 offer, though some got to use it before.
I've booked a room at the Gold Spike over the phone using the MRO coupon. I told the agent about the $7.77 MRO coupon but they were not familiar with it at all, though it had only been out a few days so I can't really blame them. They did book the room at that rate, plus $7.50 in resort fees (the Gold Spike...a 'resort'?) but they made it very clear that I'd have to produce the coupon at check-in, otherwise they'd have to charge me the higher rate of $12. LOL!

I'm looking forward to checking the renovations out.

$7.50 resort fee for the Spike. Now that's hilarious.
We've contacted them to get things straightened out. Really, a $7.50 additional fee? That sounds a bit weak.
At this point, I think pretty much all of us have incorporated resort fees into our budgeting. We know that the great room rates we're booking are being diminished by the resort fees we're paying. We know how to research the fees and book accordingly

All of Las Vegas is one big charade, every bit of it. It's part of it's charm. Like lowfat ice cream or the Laffer Curve. We know when we're being lied to. That knowledge protects us.

Resort fees are just the newest expression of that charade. I'm cool with Gold Spike playing it too.

At this point, there's no excuse for a LVA reader not to be able to anticipate and adjust to resort fees.
