Last September I attempted to pay with points at Sunset Station and was told I could not pay with points if I was using the MRB coupon. I asked for the manager who confirmed the policy.
No complaints here. Even with paying the full price with a 2/1, this coupon is very welcome especially when it can be used any time. You can't beat having a good buffet for less than $10 per person.
It has always been one discount at Red Rock Station Buffet. I cannot speak to your experience at GVR.
My experience in December was
With the 2 for 1 Coupon...Pay full price with points for the SECOND one on the get one free and no further discount at all at Red Rock. Cost $18.99 in points.
With the 2 for 1 Coupon ...Pay special rate of 11.99 with points and the other free at GVR. Cost $11.99 in points.
Now you figure out how much you need to cycle through to get $11.99 (7,194 points) and for $18.99 (11,394 points)that is alot of $$$$$
Not consistent at all!!!

Every property is different. Today one of the long-time cashiers at Aliante's buffet told me the paid meal is at the lower Boarding Pass rate, as long as the guest shows a card.

As far as the paid meal being paid with points, that will depend on how the new coupon reads. If it says "cash only," then they'll have to charge it that way.

That is not correct. Up until this last year, we had always been able to pay the Boarding Pass rate (and use points) to pay for the first buffet, and gotten the second one free with the coupon.
Red Rock's buffet has declined. We, and several of our friends are no longer eating there due to the poor quality of the food. We are always sad to see any decline in quality, anywhere in our city. But let me recommend the Bagel Cafe, located in the sports book in the Red Rock.
I love the half Corned Beef sandwich and the Chicken Noodle Soup.
Sorry to hear that, annalesa -- Red Rock has been one of our favorite buffets.
Jeez we ate there twice in Dec and it was great. I guess as all buffets its what you like for food-we aren't seafood people so mybe that makes a difference.
I'm going to strongly disagree with the view that Red Rock buffet has gown downhill. We stayed there for 9 nights over Thanksgiving, and ate at the buffet many times. It was great. Definitely NOT poor quality food.
