Matchplays (have the rules changed)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we were in Vegas in April we played m/plays at 3 or 4 casinos and found that some have changed the rules. The last 3 times we were there you would put your $10 + matchplay coupon on the table and the croupier would remove the coupon and replace it with another $10 so if the bet won you would get back $40. Now when you put your bet on they leave the coupon on the table. if you win they pay $30. This happened at the Vegas club and i asked the croupier if she had made a mistake first she said no, but changed her mind and paid the $40. A couple of days later we went to the Orleans and the same thing happened, this time they would not change and paid $30. Have i been lucky in the past or are the casinos changing the rules ?
I think you were lucky. You basically got a double match play previously as you bet $10 and won $30, instead of $20.
I've never had a dealer replace the coupon with another $10 bet and then pay off both bets, and I've played hundreds of match plays over the years. Any time that I've used a match play coupon with a $10 bet and it wins, the dealer takes the coupon and pays $20 (double the proper payout amount).

The "rules" and conditions are usually printed on the back of the match play coupon and most of them state exactly what you will be paid on a winning bet.
