MRB Shipping Overcharge?

Just got my MRB in the mail today, having paid the $3.50 shipping charge. The first thing I noticed on the envelope was the postage.....78 cents from Vegas to Menomonee Falls, WI. I'm satisfied with the MRB program, and LVA in general, but $2.72 to "handle" a free book that costs only .78 to ship?

Seems like an overcharge that LVA would be quick to call a casino out on if it were charging that much. Like I said, I'm overall satisfied. But unless there's a lot more behind the scenes than I'm aware of, $2.72 is quite a lot of money for someone to put a booklet into an envelope and mail it.

Has anyone dared question LVA on this before? :-)
You agreed to pay $3.50 (a whole three and a half dollars!) to have it shipped to you.

It was shipped to you.

You received the shipment.

You honestly believe you have a legitimate gripe?

Amazing.
It seems so or why would it be posted? Sounds like a reasonable gripe to me. They won't be handling one for me this year.

I'm looking forward to not hearing from you then!

I got my MRB yesterday and I'm very happy.
I was charged $7 to ship it and three books UPS.
I do all of the shipping at my job and $7 to ship that much weight, from LV to ATX is dead on the correct price for shipping alone, not accounting for ANY handling (or paying for the box).

Thanks LVA, I am one very satisfied customer.

For what it's worth, there is the cost of the envelope and label, plus Anthony mentioned that the MRBs had arrived at the mailing house -- that implies that the mailing was not done in-house, but rather that LVA paid for an outside company to stuff the envelopes, label them, and mail them out.

Whether that service (and the cost of the envelope and label) is worth $2.72 is a question you can bring up with them, but be aware that it did cost them money above and beyond postage to get the book from point A to point B.
its already been stated, but i am going to reiterate:

something that has a postage stamp of $.78 did not cost only 78 cents to mail.

there is the envelope and the cost of paying a person a salary to stuff them.

now if you want to sit back and do the math to calculate how long it takes to stuff an envelope vs. a minimum wage hourly rate, also take into consideration other costs of running a business, such as how much that company paid that employee for health insurance, unemployment insurance, etc etc etc.

dont forget to include the cost of getting the envelopes in the price. when i sold records on ebay, it would cost me $50 for delivery of boxes to mail them in. that was in addition to the cost of the boxes.

so basically, no. you are not getting a refund.

I think we All get surprised at S&H charges for Whatever we buy!

As far as MRB..........I believe in making it a part of a trip, and stopping by the LVA office
and just picking it up & renewing at that time. Easy peasy, and nice to put faces to names.

I never cease to be amazed. If it's not worth $3.50 to you, don't do it.
