MRB Shipping Overcharge?

Maybe he thought Anthony Curtis should hand deliver the book to him. I am sure the $3.50 should be enough to cover AC's airfare, food, and hotel.
Hard to believe that people that go to Vegas can question a mailing charge of $3.50.

Nevertheless, I received our book a few days ago...and this gives me the opportunity to say"THANKS" A job well done this year. Will be putting this to use in 10 days....I always hi light the 2 for 1 buffets that are only good for Sun/Thur....and guess what? There was only ONE....Golden Nugget. That in itself is great. which means I have a buffet coupon for every day this trip.

Thanks again....Good Job..

Just got my MRB in the mail today, having paid the $3.50 shipping charge. The first thing I noticed on the envelope was the postage.....78 cents from Vegas to Menomonee Falls, WI. I'm satisfied with the MRB program, and LVA in general, but $2.72 to "handle" a free book that costs only .78 to ship?

Seems like an overcharge that LVA would be quick to call a casino out on if it were charging that much. Like I said, I'm overall satisfied. But unless there's a lot more behind the scenes than I'm aware of, $2.72 is quite a lot of money for someone to put a booklet into an envelope and mail it.

Has anyone dared question LVA on this before? :-)

Never ceases to amaze me how cheap people can be. When you take a cab from the airport to your hotel do you give the driver exact change? Geez
Ok, I figured I'd get beat up over this, but I was curious. I'll consider myself more enlightened as to the behind-the-scenes costs, overall value, etc.

And don't forget, as I stated in my original post, overall, I am SATISFIED with LVA!

I have a feeling that you would complain if you were hung with a new rope. I thought I had heard it all, obviously I was mistaken.

I think knagl is right on the money; group behavior is different than individual behavior, and on-the-net behavior is different than in-person behavior.

My two cents:

1. Of course there are "handling" costs besides the postage, most of which is probably a matter of subcontracting the shipping to a mailing house. Maybe there's some profit in the $3.50, but most companies charge "handling" as well as "shipping," including big ones like amazon and Wal-Mart. I don't think $3.50 is inappropriately high.
2. Opinions sure run high on the Net; these discussions are usually really polarized, either LVA (or whoever or whatever is under discussion) is either perfect or horrible, rarely anything in between.
3. There's the so-called "halo effect," when you're pissed off about something you get pissed off about everything. If the food is lousy, you'll tend to complain more about the service. If you're pissed about LVA, you'll complain more about the S&H on the MRB. Just normal human nature.
4. People often get pissed when you talk about their behavior. Maybe I shouldn't have. Too late.
