Sonoma Cellar MRB Coupon - Read the Fine Print!

I am very disappointed. My sister is coming to visit, and I was going to take her to visit the Henderson casinos this weekend. I thought we'd use the MRB coupon at Sonoma Cellar at Sunset Station, until I read the fine print on the back. First of all, you can't just present the coupon to the server at the restaurant, as you can with other coupons. You have to go to the hotel gift shop and purchase a $50 gift card for $25. And here's the kicker -- YOU CAN'T USE THE GIFT CARD UNTIL THE NEXT DAY!

There is no way I'm making 2 trips to Henderson. So I guess we won't be using this coupon.

Maybe we'll go to Fuego at Fiesta Henderson instead. Does anyone have any comments about this place? Is it good?
It would be a good idea if somehow than when a coupon changes that the LVA they could list the changes that were made from previous year. It seems like more and more coupons are changing their wording or rules that you have to really read all the fine print. This was a big change and should have been noted on the list when it was put out. Coupons are great and should be welcomed by Casinos for an opportunity to gain some of your business. However not all people are on the same page. Yes it is our job to read the fine print but your problem goes beyond that reading. Thanks we can scratch Sunset off this year.
Sue,
I know you love Waverly's at the Cannery (I think). I have never eaten there, and hear it is excellent. As a comparison to Fuego, I cannot say, but we are locals also and have been to Fuego several times. We have never been disappointed. I usually get the filet and my husband gets the bone-in ribeye. Our daughter (when visiting) had the salmon. All were excellent. Used some sort of coupon, promotion everytime and of course, it was no problem. By the way, Sue, have you tried the steakhouse (I think it's called Carve) at the Eastside Cannery? Our daughter is coming back to town and I have a restaurant.com certificate for there but haven't eaten there yet.
If you decide to try Fuego, I certainly hope you enjoy it !!!
Vicki
Thanks, Vicki. No, I haven't been to Eastside Cannery. I rarely venture far from home, lol. I decided to go to dinner in Henderson because my sister has never been to those casinos (I've taken her to Waverly's a couple of times in the past), and I haven't been to Henderson in years. I wanted to use both an MRB coupon and my Stations gift card that I was given a few months ago.

We're going to Lake Las Vegas earlier that day (she wants to see that area) and will stop at Fiesta Henderson on the way back. Your review of Fuego sounds good, and I'm looking forward to eating there.

Loved Carve. Was at Fuego like 8 years ago, was good. Sonoma is very good.
Thanks for the info---appreciate it!
Considering that the other Station steak houses have $25 coupons that are easier to use makes these rules peculiar. I used the Palace Station coupon and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly
OK, we went to Fuego tonight. BUT -- did not use the MRB coupon, after all. Here's why ...

Fuego is an unusual steakhouse. They do not have prime rib on the menu, and we both wanted prime rib. However, they did have it as a special -- $19.99 for the whole dinner, including soup or salad (we had the lobster bisque - yum!), baked potato, rolls, and veggies (squash/zucchini medley). You can't use a coupon on a special, so another MRB coupon goes down the toilet.

The dinner was excellent, though, and I used my $50 Stations gift card to pay for it (it was a gift to the rewards center staff for a job well done). The manager was very nice about not letting us use the coupon, and he did let me have my 20% team member discount, even though he wasn't supposed to do that with a special, either, lol. Service was excellent from both our server (Fiona) and busperson (Shyla).

Total bill for 2 dinners including 2 cocktails was $47, before the tip.
Thanks Sue for the information. We have always enjoyed our meals at Fuego so I am glad to read you enjoyed the meal.
That's right, Sue. They don't take coupons with specials---I had forgotten about that. I am SO GLAD you enjoyed the meal and everything sounded great. I would have felt horrible if you had taken your sister and not had such a nice meal. I had forgotten to mention that the service there was excellent, so I'm really glad you had the same experience. We don't get there often, but will look forward to going again.
