There are times when you just want a humble, decent, and decently priced meal. Likewise, sometimes you just want a place to rest your weary head, and don't want to pay fancy prices. An AARP membership will get you:
A 15% discount at Denny's
A 10% discount at Motel 6
These discounts apply everywhere in the country. Vegas has several Dennys and Motel 6's. An AARP card costs about $20 a year, so let's calculate what Joe and Jane Gambler can save in one swell foop:
Breakfast for two at Denny's: $35. Discount: $5.25
One night at Motel 6: $80. Discount: $8
The card is already almost paid for.
There are other discounts that the card can get for you, including auto insurance. I also got a Netflix deal.
Now, you may pooh-pooh at this and consider both Motel 6 and Denny's far too plebeian for a Vegas vacay. But as always, money you don't spend on food and lodging can be spent on fun stuff. And as far as food and lodging goes, I personally sometimes just need to refuel rather than anything goomay, and most of the time, my hotel room is my crash pad, not my luxury refuge.
Anyone 50 or older can join AARP.
