Accepting mailed offers with only basic room types

My husband and I receive many, many mailed offers from CET. To accept these offers you have to stay in the basic rooms when we can be comped in much nicer rooms (he's diamond, I'm platinum) without booking under a particular offer.

Is it a good bet that we can be comped to the nicer rooms at check in? Don't want to run the risk of not having the room we want.
I am confused. If you can book the nicer room, why not just do that?
You cannot book the nicer room AND accept the offer of i.e. entry into a slot tournament, or vouchers for the casino. At least that has been my experience so far.

Therefore, we have not used any of CET offers of gifts, casino money, etc. We can get almost any night comped in the nicer rooms, so we just go for that. Just wish we could be assured that we would be upgraded at check in.
I am Diamond and see the same thing when I try to book online. However, the last few times when I booked through my Casino Sales Executive, she was able to lock me into a better room and it showed on my confirmation. I did not ask for anything special on these trips (just the guys, and we all had our own comped rooms). Definitely worth a try, and you can explain to him/her what your preferences are (i.e. best room 1st, offer 2nd or vice versa).

I get very little from CET host, but the one thing she usually can do is get a better room. So, if there is an offer you want, and you happen to rate a host, this is one time it is worth going through them.
Thanks for your responses. I'll just have to be a little more insistent when I call and ask for our usual room!
