BConnected changes

Well my wife and I make one trip a year to Vegas. Five night stays at Sams Town. We started staying at Sam around 15 years ago. We always take advantage of senior day and any promotions that may be going on during our stay. Always have tried to stay during point multiplier days to maximize our slot points earned. We usually each receive two free nights that they always have let us use back to back.

We never worried about what slot points we left on our cards because we always were back with 18 months to keep them active. We never got quite close enough to move up from ruby, only if they would have combined our card scores.

So now with the changes it sounds like we will lose our slot points ( combined we have about 130k) after six months. We were just out there in July 2018 and won’t be back until July 2019. We always used the points for food while we were there.

So it seems that after years of loyalty we will be looking for another place to stay. Sad because we really like the refreshed rooms and they were putting new carpet on the casino floor when we were there and it looked great.

Now where to try try to get free room offers for what we spend during our annual trip. We are quarter video poker players. The strip VP stinks and can’t earn comps there on our play.

Thinking maybe a Stations property.

We are pretty much in the same boat as you, Steve. I'm thinking about taking my business downtown to the Grand or the Plaza. Maybe even the 4 Queens. This new tier system of Boyd's is crap.

I think one of the biggest drawbacks to this new plan is Boyd thinks I'll still continue to patronize my local Boyd properties. I have 2!  I have 15 casinos within a 2 hours drive from me with Boyds being 2 of the farthest.  I play there so as to keep my and my husband's Emerald status.  I can drive 12 minutes and be at Hollywood Aurora (IL) or 35 min to Hollywood or Harrahs in Joliet.  I get better comps at Hollywood for my little play compared to Boyd.

The point is this: Boyd's marketing people will carefully study and evaulate the situation. Being aware that a lot of customers will be unhappy, they decided to implement these changes, no matter what. Just like the parking fees on the Las Vegas Strip and the resort fee being raised another couple of bucks every 6 months or so. As long as there are enough people that continue patronizing these casinos they will not do adjustments. Station Casinos, I am 100 per cent convinced, knows about the big changes and may also think about reducing its point value. I don'^t like it, but chances are they will.  Perhaps it takes another 9/11 or another Lehman Bank disaster in order to cut back this corporate greed. Or the gambling comunity decides to play less and spend less.

The bottom line is that these Milleniums are screwing up Las Vegas.

They don't come out there to gamble, the come for the damn clubs. Idiots pay hundreds for a freaking bottle of champagne in them.

They also pay big bucks for a stupid little tent at the pools. Boyd just made it where non- guests can come and swim in the pool at the Orleans (for a fee, of course).

These casinos are catering to those kids and forgetting about who kept them afloat during their lean years.

I kinda thought that the Orleans wouldn't cave in, but the did.

We need another place like the Riveria. A place that didn't forget their roots and was the ''Adult Place To Stay''!!!

Sad to say, but even downtown is going that way, with the demise of the the grinders like Binions and the Las Vegas Club.

I can't stand the thumping music in D's when you're trying to concentrate on blackjack.

The same with Golden Gate.

Some dumps are dumps and some dumps are dumps with character. Ive always liked the Skyline, gave them a bunch of play over 2 days last trip ( wasnt staying there) hopefully I will hear from them

4 Queens mails to be, The D and El Cortez do not, thought Ive played enough. I mostly dont hear from Boyd anymore. Next trip Ill just be cashing out my Boyd points if they still exist.

Boulder Station could be an option for those who like Sams Town

There are 6 of those deuces machines in front of the bar by the showroom.  Marked with a sign saying 99.8%.  They haven't been there very long.

100 % with you on that one, Todd. Even the time I usually spend playing my matchplay coupons at the D and the Golden Gate are pure stress when I hear this loud music inside the casino. I wonder how long an average employee can take it before he/she has to quit because of the noise and caused by it...the stress factor.

One last real downtown casino is the El Cortez. They still have decent videopoker and good promotions. Not as good as 5 years ago, but still ok. And it's not so noisy inside. They really did a great job. Apart of all that, you can really skip Downtown. The best time to play videopoker or black jack in those joints that's after 3 a.m. until 8 a.m. or so.

If you have a rent-a-car, then you still have plenty of options. I think the "trick" is to stay away from all the places where the tourists go.

Cheers :)

The only thing I can suggest is to send complaints to Boyd and to their social media sites. I remember when they "enhanced" Senior day a while back. It got changed back in a hurry when they got a lot of blow back.

I have sent 5 messages to Boyd from my B Connected home page since Aug 27 and have yet to be told how my over 15,000 former card points turned into 595 tier credits.
