Best hotel for low rollers

Palms, not on Strip

Strat not really on Strip.

Suggest Palace Station, closer than South Point but also not on the Strip. Great Comps, newly remodeled, rooms included. Good VP

Okay, I’ve narrowed it down to:

- SLS

- Stratosphere

- Tropicana

- Palms

Which resort do you think will give me the biggest bang for the buck in terms of comps/discounts for future stays?

Robert Huss, it seems you are asking the million dollar question.

A lot of folks have weighed in with good information, places that fit your criteria.  You just have to pick one.  Were I you, I'd go with PJ Stroh's suggestion, Tropicana.  On the Strip, good comps for low play.   Plus the Trop is so iconic, a real blast from the past, which would add a measure of interest to your trip.

The Trop is such a blan hotel & casino now. I stayed there and married my wife there in '95. Now the only thing, IMHO, it's good gor is the location. From what my friends tell me, the Stratosphere would give you the better comps. Good luck.

True dat.  It is literally an old folks home now.   THey bus them in from somewhere on a daily basis.  Must have some kind of marketing partnership or something.

But just because you are staying there doesn't mean you have to hang out there.   And the rooms are nice enough.

The best hotels for low rollers are off the strip. Way off. We love Sam's Town. It has a good selection of full pay machines and a nice sports book and daily poker tournaments. The buffet is good and so is the Angry Butcher. Comps are fairly easy to earn. It has a free shuttle to the strip and/or downtown. That means no parking fees. If you are a low roller you will appreciate the good values. The rooms are very reasonable and clean. We.ve been going to Vegas 2 weeks a year for almost 40 years. We've stayed at many of the best strip hotels but we've learned the best value and gamble is in the locals casinos. Did I say comps are easier to get? We play $.25 video poker and get rooms comped regularly.

Try Casino Royale which is next door to Harrah’s

I realize that this is an old conversation, but I'll still go ahead a comment on the Casino Royale.  Tommy Elardi bought this and developed this small joint in the early 1990's.  Until the past couple of years, The Royale was a great place to gamble and stay.  They now have virtually no blackjack games, and the casino closes at night............even over the weekend.  I used to get Labor Day weekend rooms for $100 per night including taxes (no resort fees).  Now the hotel is being managed by Best Western, and this is new.  Room prices have jumped dramatically and the table game gambling sucks...............because it's non-existent.

Did Robert Huss ever tell us which hotel he chose, and how it turned out?
