Best websites for pre-Vegas research?

I find vpfree to be hit nd miss.  The last three casinos I visited didn't have inventory that matched the vpfree description.

My favorite all time Vegas website was CheapoVegas that went dark many years ago.     They gave a humorous review of the good and bad attributes of every resort.   LVA and YouTube ate the only sites I look at today

VpFree2 depends heavily on reader reports, and if no one has bothered to report on a given place for a while, the info for that casino will be largely useless. I've sent them quite a few reports in the past; one thing I can verify is that they do update their info very quickly once they receive those reports.

Cheapo Vegas, I agree, was a lot of fun AND very useful. RIP :(

I remember Cheapo Vegas, one of my favorites (you can still find their content through the Wayback Machine website).  Agree with Kevin about vpFree2, it's almost completely dependent on user reports (which I often send).  They do report the date of their last update, so if you see that the report for any given casino is a couple of years old, it's almost certainly inaccurate.

They reference, "Mr. Brain" often as a person they rely on for mathematical analysis, there was a "Mr. Brain" at the LVA offices during one of their podcasts. I'm not sure if it's the same guy, but Anthony said he is the biggest expert on Ultimate X poker strategy.

It is the same person, I have met him in person. He is an advantage player east of the Mississippi and is probably the most knowledgeable player of Ultimate X Gold out there. The other strategies are written by a guy named Pax0r who has also contributed for years to the videopoker.com forum under a similar user name.
