Went to Triple 7s first night of January trip with wife. Bill came to $47. I had looked before trip to see I had $54 in food money on my card. Much to my surprise when waitress comes back and says I still owe $10. I told her I was positive I had enough on my card. She runs it again and says no. I apologize and pay her. Went right to club desk from leaving restaurant and explain situation to guy, then get the news of the point change. Told the guy that I wasn't blaming him, but sure would be nice to know of these changes ahead of time. Can't wait for Boyd to make a positive change to anything, seems like everything they change is negative
Anthony (and others, I'm sure) has warned repeatedly that you should never "bank" comps. Even worse than devaluation is when they go *poof!* as they "expire" at the end of the year or whatever. IMHO a comp is a contract and the casino is obligated to fulfill it, without qualifications or exceptions.
All we can do to fight back is simply not patronize these places. Boyd should have figured out a way that only points earned AFTER Devaluation Day would be $1/1000, and points in player accounts up to that point would still be $1/600. With a neato little move, they added millions to their bottom line, as oustanding comps are now a much smaller liability. I'll bet somebody got a gold star for this.
