Strangely, Boyd stock is doing quite well over the last few years.

I don't think its strange. Thay have been focusing on the bottom line and the stock price reflects that.
However you must ask - is this a sustainable business model?
Two or so years ago, I would have said, of course not, crapping on their long-time loyal customers, destroying their players' club, and making everything much worse and twice as expensive, no, that's not a sustainable business model.
Now, I'm not so sure. It's undeniably working. I guess we who care about value and want a good experience are in the minority.
I guess as far as its primary market (locals) is concerned, they no longer care about the buffet+nickel slots+go see a movie crowd. They're much more interested in the well-heeled ploppies who'll play 6-5 BJ at $25 a hand without a second thought. Too bad.
Orleans just went back to a GM that is a bit more old school as the complaints mount. Interested to see if the tide is turning.

Zero chance. And why would they change anything? They're making record profits.
Vegas has turned to shit, and it ain't never going back.
"as the complaints mount."
I totally agree with Kevin. "Complaints" are at best an casual observation of whining on message boards. Can anyone show us any data that cash flow is down at the Orleans? How about data on "complaints"? How many complaints in 2023 vs 2021 vs 2019, etc?
I remember VIVIDLY when the message board "experts" ranted how when Boyd revamped their rewards to not pay any points/comps to Ruby that the the masses would go elsewhere. Since that time, the stock has tripled as profits soared, as most of the complainers played anyway!

Well, we know that they (all the casinos; not just Orleans) have made a careful calculation that upcharging and gouging will create a more robust bottom line, as those that they drive away are the less profitable part of their customer base anyway.
I now only play at a tiny fraction of the available casinos: I'm down to Four Queens, South Point, and Emerald Island. (AZ Chuckie's had my business until they smoked their good VP.) The other casinos have pretty much told us, "Fuck you, we don't want or need you." I robustly return the sentiment.
However, I know that I'm part of a tiny, tiny minority. Hell, I've told myself, "No one will play that idiot 6 to 5 blackjack." Wrong! "No one will pay those asshole resort fees." Wrong! "No one will pay to park and lose their money." Wrong! "No one will play if the players' club awards you a stale doughnut for $10,000 coin-in." Wrong!
So if Stations or Boyd (etc.) announce a promo where if you hit a four of a kind, you get your genitals torn off by a rabid mountain lion, I expect that to increase their business.
Different properties have quite different balance sheets. Orleans was playing off of the sports teams etc that they hit with higher room rates ad resort fees. That is drying up and a few months ago they were under 50% of true capacity. That coupled with the lack of rooms available due to housekeeping shortages has led to a shift in philosophy. They also had the marketing group targeting Titanium and Onyx members from other States this is fizzling out. Whole situation has sucked the past few years but I am hopeful. I have a meeting with the new guy later this week.

Do their cheerleaders chant, "Rip their balls off!"? Asking for a friend.
