So do you need to get a host (or qualify to have a host) before the Resort Fee will be waived for a comped room?

yes I checked at the desk the nite before we left and then went to find the host on duty to have this fixed .last time the desk checked for me and called me later with a zero bill.that was nice for him to do that.

Thanks, chipin, for that information! That's good to know and I will keep that in mind!

I stayed there in December and comped rooms did not have to pay the resort fee...but it was after your stay...however, you did have to pay for the Internet + Local/Long-Distance calls (if made) separately if you did not pay the resort fee.

Follow-Up:

I received an offer in the mail for a BOGO stay at The D and just booked two nights in April (staying somewhere else one night before and two nights after) and it was the case that you do not have to pay the resort fee if any part of your stay is comped.

That having been said, I asked again about the phone calls and Internet access and was informed that you would have to pay for these things individually if you do not have to pay the resort fee. Still $25 (total) for two nights isn't bad at all!

I seem to recall that Local Calls were $1.00 each, because I made a few, and the Internet is $7.95 for 24 hours and less (per day basis) if you get it for a longer period of time. I don't plan on making any calls, (my cell phone was dead) but if, for some reason, you plan to make a bunch of Local/Long-Distance calls and use the Internet, you may well be better off seeing if you can pay the resort fee which then includes all of the above.

As for at least local phone calls, around Downtown LV there are pay phones at I think Plaza, Las Vegas Club, El Cortez, and Four Queens (maybe more places) which should be charging less than $1 per call, like 50 Cents or less per call.

I do wonder where in the hotel is best to stay in order to get rid of the noise from the Fremont Street Experience (including where the bands play)?

Thanks for the tip about pay phones, I almost forgot such things exist! I'd probably just pay the extra $0.50 to call from the room, and I also won't foolishly let my cell phone run out of juice this time.

When it dies, it really dies, if you let it go completely dead it must charge for six hours before it will even come back on. It's an IOS something or other that would be a Droid if I was with a different carrier, or something.

I have to tell you, I stayed on the Fourth floor facing The Plaza where you would have thought I'd have gotten a ton of FSE band noise in the room and it wasn't the case at all. I'd have been up, anyway, don't get me wrong, but stopping in and out of the room I still couldn't hear it.

Personally, as a hotel manager, I don't think people always complain about actual noise, I think they sometimes complain because there could be noise.

You're welcome! As for noise, I have heard it (at least the band noise if not other noise) when staying at Plaza in the North Tower and at Four Queens at times.

Any advice on how to 'politely' inquire whether comps are ever coming from "d". I figure the effort to get on mailers has cost me a couple hundred atFP BP upstairs. Meanwhile the time I once ran coin in next door dropped, so, there went the bounceback gravy train. Any suggestions? Good luck!
