Diamond status (CZR) via video poker

Researching the possibility of getting Diamond status, pretty much for the sole purpose of getting resort fees waived. You can do Diamond in a Day or play during one of the very very infrequent 5X multiplier periods (next one's the last three days of August). Otherwise, you need to slam through $150,000 to get the 15,000 tier credits required.

This MIGHT be worthwhile if I could play 9/6 JOB, 8/5 Bonus, or any other 99%+ game. But I've heard that CZR has upped the requirement to $25 per tier credit rather than $10, for non-shit video poker.

I don't think this would be worth it if the best game available were, say, 8/5 Bonus, meaning I'd have to lose not just over $1200 to get that precious Diamond card, but NOW...more like $3000!

Anyone know the details here? They are, of course, very coy about which VP takes $10 and which takes $25 to earn one tier credit, as in, they don't tell you. I wonder if they even tell you on the machine?

Oh, and since the shit VP usually has a house edge of more than double the decent VP, your expected loss on your way to Diamond would be just as bad, if not worse, if you opted to earn tier credits at $10/credit and play the bad games.

Diamond in a Day would require 5,000 tier credits earned (then you wind up with 15,000). That's $50K coin-in, and doable, barely, at $1 denom games. But at $25 per tier credit, that would be $125,000 coin-in, and NOT doable.

Thanks for the summary. Much appreciated. I haven't been to LV in two years (a record in my life), and I'm catching up.

Once I survey the sports books at the various Caesars properties, I may have a shortcut  to Diamond. It requires a little sophistication. My info is dated, however, and needs to be updated. I'll report back in mid August one way or the other.

The scuttlebutt is that there are now two remaining locations in the continental US where you can earn those tier credits on a decent machine @ $10/credit: Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina, and Harrah's Lake Tahoe. At the former, you have to play $5 denom NSUD (lower denoms earn tier credits more slowly); at the latter, you have to play 50 cent ten play. So, in either case, $25 per hand. It would be 5,000 tier credits to earn a total of 15,000 and Diamond status. Of course, with only a few machines in one of two pretty remote locations, you might find yourself waiting a while before you can play.

And of course, the above info presumes that they don't screw with those machines to make it harder to earn tier credits, which they've done before.

Apparently, there is absolutely no decent play at any CZR property in Vegas for the purpose of earning Diamond. The best shitty option might be to play on their next 5X day(s). I've also heard that blowing your money on CZR's overpriced everything earns you tier credits that are eligibile for the multiplier, so that may be the (gag) way to go. Of course, they probably jack up the price of rooms, food, etc. during that promo.

The credit card will also give you 3 free nights after you chage $1000.  More than getting your annual fee back.

The lowdown link( as long as one can stand the fine print info) on this Barclay's Business Earner credit card option to attain the Diamond tier  for eventual tier matching to Diamond with CET. All these perks are obtainable after application approval (w/$1000 spend during initial 90 days + $95 annual fee) assuming customers don't maintain a revolving monthly balance with compounding interest charges. That scenario can devour any listed/ upfront CC perks in a hurry. Of course, you folks knew that.

Another earning perk with this card is 8 points earned per dollar spent on gas charges. That MIGHT be a plus under the current conditions..maybe, assuming payoff of monthly balances.

Thanks for the info. I'm not really interested in acquiring any more credit cards--what I already have suits my needs just fine. While you may get goodies with some of those cards, I consider an annual fee unjustified and abhorrent--they make enough money from you as it is.

It is kind of ludicrous that gambling is one of the WORST ways to get CZR Diamond status.

Just subtract the credit card annual fee from the real value of the benefits. If the answer is positive, it's worth it.

Advantage play isn't just for gambling.

There 7/5 Bonus at the Rio - Triple Spin Poker at the Shutters Bar.  Ugly I know.  But, they serve you some fine swill (Mr. Boston brand).  On a 5x Tier Day, might be worth it, and you don't have to leave Vegas.

Red... If you are referring to the 3x TC for horseracing, that died five years ago.  I do know some who are working the sports app.
