Agree. Hedging just to reduce variance (at the expense of some + EV) only draws unnecessary scrutiny of your action. As many of you know, some pit critters consider the $ to be their own and get real pissy at what they perceive to be a shot taker. Just not worth it. Get in, get the money as seamlessly as possible then get out.
You're forgetting that using a coupon of any kind, in any context, identifies you as a bottom-feeding lowlife in the eyes of many pit scum. I stopped worrying about what casino workers, from top to bottom, think of me a long time ago. As an AP, I know that they consider me to be worse than worthless no matter how I may try to disguise it.
Caring about how the casino elves regard you is worse than pointless. It can make you shy away from positive plays. Furthermore, it can turn positive plays into negative ones--like toking a blackjack dealer. One $5 toke negates about 15 minutes of +EV effort (or whatever).
As I stay the hell away from crap tables except to use matchplays, I don't care if some glorified thug in a suit rolls his eyeballs at me until they fall out. It's not like I'm trying to ingratiate myself with him (it) anyway. Now, if you were trying to do the "Turning the Tables on Las Vegas" shtick, then...yeah. Put on the Happy Drunken Tourist hat and dance away.
