Downtown Grand LVA No Resort Fee Coupon

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but when I try to use the LVA Coupon at the Downtown Grand that eliminates the resort fee, they bump up the room rate, so you don't save much.  When I try to book a room without using the coupon, the room rate is lower.

Have you tried calling them, and after getting the room rate, mention that you have the coupon. I am curious as to what they say.

I tried a random booking, three nights late in August, Mon-Wed. $185 with the coupon and $267 without, total. One king bed, 1 person.

The base rate was $12 more when using the coupon, $56 as opposed to $44, But I think the difference was a 20% base rate discount for booking ahead. Seems like you can only get one discount at a time, so the LVA coupon negated the 20%. Still a substantial savings though.

I did this at downtowngrand.com, which took me to a third-party booking website, synxis.com.

Thank you both!  I'll keep experimenting & will call to see if that makes a difference.  It's a great coupon since the resort fee is $35 plus tax.

I had great success with this coupon in April. I booked by phone because the website didn't offer a good price. For this coupon, call.

I booked four nights at the Downtown Grand this month through their I Prefer website. I inserted the PROLVA code from the coupon and then selected their two nights get one free offer. The booking didn't show the resort fees being dropped - so I completed the reservation and then called the Downtown Grand. I was told that when I checked in and presented the physical coupon the the fees would be dropped. When I checked in on 10/15/23, I was told that they wouldn't honor the coupon as they could only honor one promo on a reservation. They even checked to see if my total price would drop if they dropped the free night promo and inserted the LVA promo and Claimed the price went up. I wasn't about to argue as I was anxious to get to the casino. Worst part was that my best friend who hates using coupons and has traveled to Vegas with me numerous times - just laughed and said "see why I don't use coupons". Upon returning home I again watched the beer Friday podcast with Anthony and Andrew and Downtown Grand CEO Andrew Economon. I don't belive I heard any about restrictions of the use of the no resort fee coupon.

Don't bother playing if you're a halfway sharp video poker player.   Mailers are garbage for those who are smart enough to play with an edge and come out a winner.

Yes, it did this to me too.  I used incognito browser to try to see what they were up to.  You have to put in the code before they show you the rates.  In my case, they raised the rates about $30/day, so about the same.

I've seen this with other coupons too.  You see 2-for-1 food deal, but when you get there the price is $20, but $12 with a players card (which you can get on the spot).  They make you use the $20 "regular price" before the coupon so you save about 20% rather than 50%.

Anymore, you can't believe about any "offer."  There is always a catch, and add-on, a fee, and exclusion or something that makes every good looking deal and illusion.

That's often true, but not always by any means. The Downtown Grand coupon is worse than it looks because of their "only one promo" rule, but it still has some value.

There's really no way to tell whether a promo or coupon is "straight up" or has a catch until you actually use it. Another example that comes to mind is a Plaza $10 free play coupon that could only be used in their most awful slots, not VP or even keno. I cashed out twenty cents.
