Four Queens all summer great promo

Originally posted by: JDC

I just completed the July offer at 4 Queens.  This is a solid play.  I played .50 denom for a number of hours and got the required points to get all three tiers on the promo.  I had never played there of any significance before and in that time accumulated over $30 in points that I cashed out, over $100 in comps and played all the free play through and got over 100% of that back.  Yeah!

The bank of machines was near a Hawaiian fishing slot machine which was extremely annoying.  If I return to that area I will bring ear buds.  (Kept hearing something about using ground bait, grabbing the reel and just loud general nonsense.)

I usually play at Boyd casinos.  They have been good to me over the years in regards to free rooms and I typically only play on 10X Tuesdays.  After playing this promo at 4 Queens, I have been converted.  The accumulation of comps and points is far superior.  The promo was a cherry on top!

I'll be excited to see what offers this might generate.  :)

Thank you to everyone on this board for providing this kind of info!  It's what makes LVA a wonderful resource for all things Vegas.

My recent play at 4Q has been pretty much the same amount you played--whatever it took to cash in the current promo. For that, I've gotten two free nights (INCLUDING WEEKENDS!!!!!!!) plus five additional nights at 30% off, plus $40 free play--once every month. My recent seven-day stay cost me $216.

Please let us know what you get. And certainly, they now have a new customer--you're making a good decision to give Boyd the boyd.

I did this promo last week. I made $500 playing VP towards getting the 1200 points. I then converted the $140 free play into $170. It's a great deal

Can someone explain the promo in detail?  I wasn't mailed anything.  Is it only on VP?

Go to the 4 Queens website - there you will find the details.

To obtain the maximum benefits ($140:cash back and $50 comp), you need to accumulate 1,200 points. Video poker takes $8 coin-in to earn one point (with a couple of exceptions); slots earn one point for every $5 coin-in. So it takes $9,600 coin-in at VP or $6000 at slots to reap the full benefits. You get to keep your points, so you'll earn additional cash back and comps in the process

I highly recommend that you stay away from the slots and just play video poker. The slots will literally be fifteen times worse in terms of expected loss. As in: expect to lose $600 while pumping $6000 through the slots. Expect to lose about $40 while pumping $9600 through a 9/6 JOB machine.

Not to mention $50 worth of food. Prime rib for two at Magnolia's!

It's a great promo.  Only downside is that the better VP maxes out at 50c single-line, so it can be a slow grind.

It takes 3,840 hands at .50 denom to max out the promo, so that's an easy two sessions, maybe with a dinner break in between. The nice thing is that you have a whole month to do it. (Of course, I play 800 hands an hour, and others may play much more slowly.)

Probably the most efficient/+EV play is to hit the $1 10/7 DB, even with the points earned penalty ($16 per point, rather than $8), but I balk at the idea of maybe getting torched for a grand or more while chasing a promo. I've gotten fried for $500 multiple times just playing .25 10/7.

Everything Kevin has posted here is correct. I find the best game to play at the 4 Queens is the 10/7 Double Bonus they offer, both in denominations of 25 cents and in $1 dollar play. They do have 9/6 Jacks or better in the $1 dollar denomination - I am not sure about any other denomination there for Jacks or better. Here is a tip for you - if you find the strategy for Double Bonus to be too complicated, just use the 9/6 Jacks or better strategy. Using the Jacks or better strategy for Double Bonus has an expected return of 99.63%, which is a higher return than that of 9/6 Jacks or better, which is 99.54%. ( This is verified by Bob Dancer) I use the Jacks or better strategy myself - it is easier to understand and implement. The strategy for 10/7 Double Bonus results with a win percentage of 100.17% - when played perfectly. I personally know that I don't play perfectly and I know of few others that do. The 9/6 Jacks or better strategy works for me.

Playing DB for dollars at $16/pt or playing JoB for 50c at $8/pt will require the same number of hands to earn the 1200 points.  Much less of a grind if you can play dollars for $8/pt (they got rid of their dollar 9/6 JoB maybe four or five years ago; I think the best option now is the Illinois Deuces prog at the bars).

David is right, playing JoB strategy on the DB machines yields a decent return, but with much higher volatility than JoB.  It is a tough strategy to learn and a lot of the EV comes from penalty card situations (although I think most of that is from the A vs AH).
