Four Queens new comp system for food

I was staying at the Four Queens this last weekend, and was told that food comps would new have be earned on casino play, and that you would have to do a card swipe at the restaurant similar to Binion's. This was to start this last Monday. The mailed offers that previously offered set food limits would no longer apply. Has anyone had experience with this new system yet?
No, but here's what I've learned. The food comps will be earned at a rate of 20 points per dollar which is twice as many as cash back (which remains unchanged). The comp points earned stay on your account for 14 months. They may offer some upfront comp dollars based on your level of play. I don't think that the upfront comp dollars stay on your account after your stay but they are the first ones charged at an eatery. I'll use my level of play as an example. I usually earn about 4500 points in a three day trip. I will probably get offered $75 comp dollars upfront. If I earn 4500 points then 4500/20 = $225 in comp dollars. My normal offer is food at Magnolia's and Chicago's with one meal at Hugo's. This policy might be just fine for me. Sometimes when I go solo, I don't always feel like using the Hugo's comp but I do anyway so a nice comp like that doesn't go to waste. I could save some comp dollars for the next trip and take a friend or two there.

I have no idea how my free play offer will be affected.
This makes me long for the days when, if you played a lot at a place, somebody would come up and offer you a room or a meal. Comp computation...no fun.

Just an observation. Sorry.
What I learned mirrors what Alexlifeson learned. My normal play is about half of his, so I'm expecting just a few comp dollars up front, maybe $25 or so. My offers used to include a dinner at Hugo's, but my play dropped a little bit, so they don't anymore. I usually travel solo, so I'm fine with accumulating comp points and having dinner there every other trip.

Comp points will be accumulated across multiple trips as long as there is no inactvity for a 12 month period. So if you typically stay there only once per year, it would be safer to make sure you use up all your comps each trip. I typically stay there 3 or 4 times per year, so I should be safe.

Perhaps I am wrong on the comps staying active for 14 months and maybe it is 12 months. Just like mckenztf, that shouldn't be a problem for me either since I have a similar frequency of visits.
Received my Nov/Dec offer from them recently. Nights and FSP were the same as normal, with no food upfront. I also got a letter from them with $60 in my comp account, if I get there by mid-December. Should be able to earn around $40/day with my normal play. Now, I can eat occasional meals outside the casino, use some of the LVA coupons I've never used, and save comp dollars for Hugo's.
My offer also contained the same nights and free play. I received $50 in comps upfront (less than my estimate of $75) in addition to the letter offer of $100. After my next trip in November, I will also employ a mckenztf strategy and consider using coupons for the occasional meal elsewhere.

If I'm understanding what you are saying correctly and if I'm calculating this correctly, it would actually be 2.5 times more than the cashback for Video Poker where $8 of coin in gets you 1 point for VP play.

Although I should say for me that food comps unfortunately are useless to me since I keep Kosher. I wonder if I could use that for something else, like in the Gift Shop instead.

I think that I screwed up the wording of that post. $8 will still earn one point and 40 points will equal one dollar in cash AND two dollars in comps. I do believe that you may use the comp dollars at the gift shop or the souvenirs sold at the Players Club.

Rec, You can use comps in the gift shop. They do exclude certain items, gift cards for one example. They read me a short list, but I most of the exclusions weren't an issue for me so I don't recall them all.
