Interesting coverage of the food options downtown. Just makes my teeth grind as he contantly refers to "Freemont Street." It's FREMONT, damnit! Didn't he notice any of the hundreds of signs with the correct spelling?
informative-----thanx for posting
After reeding this inforrmative blogg, I want to rush down to Freemont Strett and have dinner at Tony Romma's.
This guy thinks a $6 slice of pizza is a good deal. He mentions the lunch special at Le Thai, which at $10.99, is meh (there are a dozen under-$10 Thai lunch options in town), but I might try it if for no other reason than every time I've attempted to have dinner there, the line has been out the door.
I'm surprised he doesn't mention the California. The cafe and the Hawaiian fast food counter have lots of really good stuff on the cheap.
Thanks Mark. Good info
Those Dirt Dogs look pretty nice. I've walked past neonopolis a million times but I dont think I ever really went in there. Next trip.
The Lanai food counter in Fremont Casino is insane. THe food is god awful but they give you a rdiciulous amount for cheap. Its the perfect place when you get the alcohol/marijuana induced late night munchies. There's about three pounds of food in the 2-item Chinese combo. You'll just spend the next day burping it up.
PJ, The shrimp cocktail at Lanai looks gross in terms of presentation. I almost didn't eat it. I was glad I did as it was good. They have a bunch of them premade and just hand you a cup when you ask for them.
What shocks me about that place is that it always seems to be busy. Open tables, if you want to eat there, are hard to come by.
Dirt Dog is a must-try if you have never had it.
