Hard Rock Food Comps - Customer Beware!

Not sure how out of town mailers are but as a local, Barb and I both receive food comps for select days at Hard Rock. These are generally three periods of three days each to be used once during each period. So, you effectively have 9 days in which to use the three of these.

Rant # 1:

At their Platinum level, you receive 30% off at most of the restaurants. However, the 30% isn't applicable for use with comps.

Rant # 2:

There is a tapas/small plates restaurant there called Johnny Smalls. It's pretty good in terms of quality, very good in terms of variety and at $20 for all you can eat small plates, a pretty good value. You also have the option of eating a la carte but if you're into your third small plate, you already breached the $20 threshold so figure on spending the $20. However, if you use comps, you can't get the fixed price $20 deal....you're into the a la carte menu.

Rant # 3:

Monday nights are 1/2 off menu items at Rare 120, their steakhouse if you have a players card (any level). We go last night with friends and ask the server with comp slips in plain sight on the table if there are any restrictions. He says "no". We order, eat, and want to pay with comps and he says the 50% off isn't applicable.

It's funny how someone just walking in off the street is able to get a better deal than someone who is a premium player and had earned comps as a result of play. Someone flipped the pyramid on this one. The piss off is that they make these rules up as they go along. On the same night that we were being told you can't use comps at Johnny Smalls to get the $20 fixed price deal, friends of our eating at the bar were in fact given this deal.

Customer beware!

Hey Dan,

This actually makes some sense to me. I think that the casino is possibly thinking that in this case, someone just walking in off the street is an unknown to them and so they may be wanting to do what they can to see if they can entice the player to come back again whereas with someone who is a premium player, they know that these people have returned and are more likely to continue returning and so maybe they think that they may not need to court them as much as the newbie -- not that I agree with this concept.

It makes no sense to me. You would think they would want to do everything they can to keep the premium player happy and KEEP them coming back to their casino. Food is normally used as a loss leader for that reason.
Beware indeed! Might want to post this in Restaurants too Dan. So that bunch sees it too.
