I believe Anthony and Andrew addressed this on a recent podcast and stated that you absolutely can circumvent any requested fees. They said you may need to ask for a manager as frontline staff are not always aware of the rule.

That's great news. Thanks for the update. Any idea when the podcast was? I'll plan to give this a shot when I'm there later this summer.

Just be aware that this is a viable promo ONLY if you play SPECIFICALLY .50 9/6 Bonus Deluxe. The good news is that there are only a few minor strategy adjustments to be made from 9/6 JOB. The bad news is that if the quads don't show up as often as they "should," you can take a healthy beating.
I look at it this way. The calculated value of the coupon is $142, which means that at the time I use it--i.e., I hit a royal--I figure to be $2,358 in the hole. At which time I will get my $2,000 hand pay plus the $500 bonus. BUT...it'll be a taxable. So this isn't really an AP play as such.
I see this as primarily a player-establishment play. If you have no history at the Plaza, a few hours o'pounding at the 50 cent denom ought to score you some nice offers down the road.
9/6 Jacks for halves works just fine at SD Bar. Mail isn't worth getting excited over and they'll cut you off when you win. Play on a Monday and stack this with their Pop Up Pizza slice promo. Decent slices, especially for free.
You don't itemize and claim losses to offset W2G wins? This play isn't worth going out of the way for but if I have some time to kill I'll pull up a seat.
Keep in mind they don't open until 4p but I'm guessing the cover never starts until a bit later in the evening.
I went back and looked at all the LVA YTube videos for 2024 and dont see any mention on the timestamps for the cover charge exclusion. Hoping @Michael can clarify the episode.

The play isn't +EV (enough) with 9/6 JOB. And as far as itemizing to offset losses--the Trump tax scams of 2018 screwed that pooch. Now, if you want to itemize, you have to kiss your (larger) standard deduction goodbye, and it isn't worth it.
The fact of the matter is that you should only declare your aggregate gambling results anyway--and you know the drill, you won, we want our cut, you lost, don't come crying to us. What I was referring to was some situation where you normally restrict your VP play to quarters, precisely so you won't ever get a W2-G--but you play this promo, and as you're not an AP and can't/shouldn't itemize, your net win will be taxable (AND reported). Makes a mildly +EV play -EV.
The real negative here, though, is the restricted access to the bar, whether it's because of open hours or because of a cover charge. I don't think they thought this through. The promo inherently encourages heavy/prolonged play--pound away until you get a royal or get sick of trying--so there should be a way for players to marathon it if they want.
Mannydogpro, are you saying that Plaza factors win/loss into their mailers? I don't think a lot of casinos do that, other than South Point. Are you fairly sure that the Plaza does?
My mailer values dropped after a $4k RF. They also require play each day for those mailers with FSP offer for each day of a trip or mailer value will drop. My info is now about 6-9 months old so something may have changed this year.

Well, that wouldn't be the first example of initial offers being better than subsequent ones, and of course, a standard AP approach has been to duck in and duck out rather than to be a continual customer of any given property. I've observed what I call the "absence makes the heart grow fonder effect," where I get offers out of the blue, and pretty good ones at that, after not having darkened the doorstep of the Silver Commode for months or even years. Of course, it's an element of basic strategy to frustrate their goals. They want you to be a habitual (chronic!) customer.
It's the May 2nd episode #136(Las Vegas pools are open). Start at the 7 minute mark. Man, this forum is a lot of work! ;)

Confirmed the statute is in effect still but no specific mention of Plaza Sand Dollar. Guess we'll see soon if they're aware of this policy. Thanks for the headsup.
