I hadn't been to Eureka casino in years--my only memory was that the place was, frankly, kind of filthy (it seemed like all of the customers were of the "the world is my ashtray" mindset), but they had decent VP and occasional good promos. I went out there with my LVA book primarily to try Fat Choy, with the twofer coupon.
The place is in a semi-scuzzy neighborhood, so I wouldn't walk there at night, but it's easily accessible by bus. The casino itself is fine; the parking lot's in back next to the main entrance, and there's always a security guard there. And when I went inside, yeah, it still seemed a bit scruffy, but perfectly clean.
Fat Choy is...weird. It's 2/3 casino coffee shop and 1/3 Asian food truck (which used to be the owner's shtick). It's small but nice inside; the staff is friendly. I had pork belly bao and sesame noodles--both excellent and only $12 total, using the coupon. There's enough interesting stuff on the menu that I'll definitely be back, which is pretty much the whole point of offering the coupon. There are a dozen places in Vegas that I never would have set foot in except for LVA and now, I'm a regular.
The VP offerings are pretty good for this day and age; they have a lot of NSUD (.05/.10/.25) as well as a few other over 99.5% games. The one I almost fainted when I saw it, though, was full-pay .05 JOB Multi-Strike! I LOVE that game, but it's almost extinct, and you NEVER see it in full-pay versions. So I looked at the other LVA coupon--earn 500 points, get $10 (free play). I figured that my expected loss was about $2.50, so I settled in and happily banged away until I earned the requisite 500 points. I incurred a loss of $35 and played the $10 free play off for a net loss of $23. Money and time well spent.
Their slot club pays essentially nothing--one thirtieth of one percent ($3000 coin-in gets you a buck--whee!!). They do have frequent multiplier days that raise the payout to Stationesque levels (as in, still shitty). There are also decent promos. They had an hourly hot seat that night for $100, and my equity was good, since there were something like eleven people in the whole place. But I wasn't picked...poo.
A great meal and a session of really fun VP. If you can get over there, it's worth the trip.
