Ellis Island--the BBQ awaits! They had a seniors promo, earn 50 points, get $5 free play and a beer, then there was the LVA play $10 get a wheel spin, and the play $5 get $2 off the BBQ or steak, so I noodled away at penny 8/6 3-line JOB until I earned the requisite 50 points.
The BBQ was excellent, as always. The LVA half-off (or twofer) coupon was good there--the only trouble with getting the steak special in the coffee shop is that you can't use the coupon. I usually can't get past the BBQ joint after I take one whiff anyway.
Here's something that really surprised me. We're all used to half-off coupons being calculated against the full (usually non-players-club) price. In this instance, I got the play $5 discount AND the players' club discount and only THEN was the half price calculated--so my meal, including my free beer, was all of 5.95. Chicken, ribs, and beer--the three basic food groups.
One wrinkle they do that really works is you load all the bennies yourself onto your card--there's no pieces of paper involved. You play that $5 and then return to the kiosk and the discount will be displayed as an option, and if you say yes, it automatically winds up on your card, which can then be presented to your server.
I had $10 free play from the spin and $5 from the senior promo, which I cashed out for $14.75. I lost $2 running up the 50 points, so...$12.75 profit, and a fantastic $6 meal. It felt like the good old days...yay LVA!
