Mildly positive play at the Palms

Currently--and I don't know for how long--the following two promos are in effect: 1) New players earn 1% free play, up to a limit of $100. It's awarded in $10 increments, for every 250 points earned ($4 coin-in per point on VP). 2) Gas card promo, earn a $50 gas card for every $10,000 coin-in.

This is cumulatively $150 in gas and free play for $10,000 coin-in, or 1.5%. The best game that awards points is 8/5 Bonus, returning 99.17%. So if you visit and play the whole $10,000 in one day, your expected value is ($150-$83), or +$67.

Not worth dropping everything and rushing over there tomorrow, but as Anthony points out, that kind of action will get you on their offer radar. Might be good for a free room down the road.

It's better than a kick in the oompa loompas. I know. I've been kicked in the oompa loompas before, and this is better.

There are unconfirmed reports of a few 9/6 JOB at the $1 level, which if they award normal points, would drop your theoretical loss to $46 and up your theoretical win to $104.

BTW, in this month's newsletter, the value of the new player bonus is misstated as 0.1%. It's 1%.

I was there yesterday. The $10 for 250 point deal is only for your sign-up day.

Yes, that's what I meant by "new players." You do indeed have to get it all done in one day, ending at 11:59 PM.

Assuming you did give them some action, please let us know what offers they send you.

So, who does Palms count as a "new player"?  Casino players clubs have had long memories (and customer data lists).  At many, if one had signed up decades ago, even if never returned after the first visit, his account was still active and ineligible for 'new sign-up' promotions.  Asked another way, does everyone have to sign up again since Palms is under new ownership?  Thanks.

Since the Palms was previously owned by Maloof and Stations, and is now owned by the Boogie Woogie Tribe or whoever, and their slot club has no connection with Stations, I would expect that pretty much everyone who signs up for Club Habanero or whatever will be considered a new player.

I agree, you can show up at someplace whose door you haven't darkened for many a year and find out to your surprise that you're still in their database (and dammit, the "$5000 free play for new signups" offer doesn't apply to you). But when a casino completely changes hands, usually, it doesn't absorb the prior slot club. (When you think about it, there's a good reason why not--they'd take on all the accumulated point balances as a contingent liability.) If and when I grace them with my presence, I'll be able to say definitively one way or the other, since I had been a Palms member since the day they opened.

And let me just say that it used to be the best goddamn casino in Vegas. Then it was Stationized. BLAUUUUGH.

VPfree2 shows 4 9/6 JoB machines from quarter to one dollar. They have a ton of 8/5 Bonus, but I don't know if that would be any good for the super advantage player. It would be for me.

Well, the two games are very similar; both have low volatility (which I like when doing a "Play X get Y" promo), with 8/5 Bonus being a little more so. But the difference between -.46% and -.83% is pretty significant. If I'm there and I see 9/6 Job, and you get full points for playing it, that'll be the game I prefer.

The gas card promo alone makes that a breakeven play, so worthwhile if you want to build up some action in the hope of getting future offers. $50 gas card, you can get a quarter tank of gas!

Nice racist comment from a liberal.  I am sure no Native american would be offended to be a member of your "Boogie Woogie Tribe or whoever".

This type of comment should never be allowed in any of the forum sections.

Your gratuitous "liberal" remark shows that you aren't outraged at all. You just wanted to make a personal attack. And that's not allowed here--if you want to talk about the forum rules.

I do applaud your choice of screen name, though only a real doofus would misspell "doofus."
