Mildly positive play at the Palms

Your gratuitous "liberal" remark shows that you aren't outraged at all. You just wanted to make a personal attack. And that's not allowed here--if you want to talk about the forum rules.

I do applaud your choice of screen name, though only a real doofus would misspell "doofus."

I can only lagh at your response.  How you try to turn it into me attacking you when you attacked a whole nation of people who have been attacked by geneations of so called "Americans".

This isn't the place for this, doufous. Just post over on the Kitchen Sink that Kevin made a racist statement making fun of Native Americans, and I'll be forced to agree with you.

How on earth was my statement "racist"? Allow me to school you: a single Native American tribe/band is not a "race." I made a fairly dumb joke about the tribe that owns the Palms--the origin of that joke is that the tribes that "own and operate" casinos in the US are, almost without exception, simply fronts--they hire management that actually knows what they're doing, fund the casinos with outside investment, and slap the tribe's name on it. I didn't "make fun of native Americans." I made fun of a single tribe that is "operating" a Vegas casino. See the rather huge distinction?

Without fail, whenever I've made ANY comment in ANY context about the tribes that "own" casinos, some nimrod will pipe up and accuse me of being "racist." Well, making a sardonic comment about the casino foibles of one particular Native American tribe is anything but that.

Now, if I had made some comment like "Native Americans are too stupid to operate casinos," THAT would be racist. But what I actually said was no more racist than if I had said that I don't like Jackson, Mississippi--and some numbnuts on an internet message board yeeped, "A lot of black people live there! That's racist!!!!!!!"

There's enough nasty, actually racist shit floating arounf the internet that you don't have to erupt in outrage over something that isn't racist at all. There's plenty of genuine reasons out there to get purple in the face.
