New Venetian/Palazzo Strategy

I am addicted to the place. I love the rooms and the fake St. Mark's Square and some of the little cafes and such. I totally agree with everybody who is disgusted at what they have done to the Grazie slot club and the points people accumulated and they way they have curtailed offers and events. (I just got a magnanomous offer to come and stay and pay only $129 a night, when I had been going for free and getting other benefits for years.)

Last fall, I got an e-mail from a "host." No more offers. Come along and sign in for some pretty steep rates, play, and we'll see what we can do. The "host" was in his 20s. I met him for five minutes, but I did glean this information: They are simply no longer interested in normal (anything under $5) slot or VP players, and the rewards for playing blackjack are much better. Roulette's even better, he said eagerly. Like I'm going to play roulette. BTW: Their VP now is just plain terrible: 8/5 JoB, etc. Nothing even semi-decent.

So I reverted to the old Comp City techniques I used years ago. Buy in at BJ for $3,000. First bet $300, back quickly down to $100. Play crowded tables (which aren't that easy to find at Palazzo, a little easier at Venetian), bathroom breaks, etc. I played 10 hours over three days, won about $1,500. Never did see the host again, but he comped not only the room, but $220 in food, beverage and spa charges, and I got the feeling I could have probably doubled that.

I realize this sort of play is not for everybody, and I could have just as easily lost $1,500 or more. But I used to use the strategy all the time a few years ago at places like MB and Palms before I went through some financial pressure.

So there's some chance at comps and positive total EV still at these places if you have a bankroll that can handle a $3,000 or so hit, athough I agree that they have completely screwed VP players.

That's wild. Their hold on video poker and slots (especially) should be much higher than blackjack.

Congrats on your comp. Given the crap they've pulled recently towards other folks here and on other forums, I'm cheering you on to screw them over for every penny you can.
Their hold is certainly higher on the VP. Their casino is screwed up, as everybody here has noted. Which is probably why they have such inexperienced or semi-competent "hosts." But the dealers and pit bosses seem to like the working conditions.

I was slow-playing their terrible VP at Palazzo just to get a coffee and orange juice (there were a total of 4 blackjack players in the entire casino at 9:30 a.m.), and when nobody came for a while, I went behind the secret door in the high-limit room to the whatever-color-card it is -- better than mine -- lounge where you can sometimes score some snacks if you're not too obtrusive. The butler ("guard") turned me away, but a perfectly delilghtful young woman went off to scour the casino to summon the one cocktail waitress, and I had my drinks in about 10 minutes.

ditto here/feel exactly the same way. A Large % of us here are VP players-- I'll miss the place but never going back. Suck it sheldon

Me too, I hope you hit them good. I personally refuse to spend a penny in there....even to take a chance on sticking it to them. I figure if everyone just stays completely away, that would serve the purpose too.
Once agian - I want to post that the Venetian/Palazzo think that they are doing you a favor.
I have stayed and played there many times.
Avg. bet $ 250.
They have cut back most comps.
Pass the word to avoid this place!!!
The Venetian Las Vegas and The Palazzo Las Vegas are now InterContinental Alliance Resorts!!!

The Venetian Las Vegas
Over 4,000 spacious suites, 19 extraordinary restaurants and 80 shops all combine to evoke the spirit of Venice.

The Palazzo Las Vegas
Palatial suites, electrifying entertainment and the world-famous Canyon Ranch SpaClub® create an experience unlike any other.

NO COMPS AND NO GOOD GAMES FOR YOU!!!

Never heard of the place.
Don't know what this means, if anything. Just got an e-mail offer for two or three free nights and $175 in table match play. Good through the end of June.
Any serious "average" gambler should avoid Venetian/Palazzo like the plague. If we lose the comps and rewards of gambling there, but still gamble there, their new comp strategy becomes "successful" - which would mean other casinos will follow suit. If you want comps and rewards for your gambling, then you shouldn't "reward" V/P for there new strategy because any success they have will be followed by others. Resort fees have already taken hold in Vegas for the most part, we don't need loss of comps to take hold too :-D
