Thank you for your help.
I was fairly sure about this, but curious, so I called them. Turns out ONE person can stand in line to pay and ONE person can stand in line to get everybody in--when you reach the cashier, the operator said, you can call over the rest of your party. She said there's plenty of seating on nearby slot machines and such. I would hasten to add, though, that the wait could still easily be a couple of hours. (Play penny slots--slowly!)
Here's a pretty detailed video of the experience:

It does make me think, though. There's a LOT of other really good food at the buffet, and you can't possibly try it all AND dive into the lobsters like they deserve :) And the un-lobster selection will be even better on un-lobster nights. I mean, the un-lobster food in the video looks pretty damn good.
So the tiebreaker for me would be the crowds. I don't really want to fight them. I would go to the Palms buffet on an un-lobster night--I doubt I would feel deprived. It would cost a lot less, and I could still use the LVA coupon.
Given the composition of your group, I don't think they'd get as much out of the lobster part of it as some people would--all the waiting can be fatiguing, abd they probably don't eat as much as younger folks. The "plain old" Palms buffet would still offer your group a great experience.
Just my two lobsters.
