Palms Host

Can anyone recommend a host at the Palms to contact for a comped room.? I'm not a high roller but I've played quite a bit of blackjack (typically $10 to $25 per hand) and quarter and dollar video poker. They've been generous over the last 9 months or so with mailers offering free rooms but I haven't received anything recently.

More specifically, I think what I need is a host that has customers that are more or less, average people like me, not someone who books rooms for Hollywood stars and NFL players.

Have you tried calling casino marketing and asking if they can comp the nights you are interested in? Up until a few months ago I regularly received mailers for comp rooms and freeplay and then suddenly I stopped receiving the mailers. I called casino marketing to see if I had any offers and they said no, but based on my past play they could upfront comp the nights I was interested in.

The Palms was our home casino for quite some time. However, several years ago they "promoted" all their best hosts to table hosts and fired everyone else. The people they hired as slot hosts were the most incompetent hosts known to man. Talked to George about it. He personally comped us a suite but by then we had moved on. Too bad. When the place 1st opened it was very much like M except with a lot better gaming.

Unfortuntely, my host (which I thought was exceptional) left in Aug, so I don't know who to recommend.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Sometimes these comp offers are so unpredictable. I left plenty of money behind at the Palms on two different trips in the last 9 months or so but my comp offers in the mail have dried up for some reason. I will give casino marketing a call, however.

If Mickey Petkus is still there, she is a pistol and very helpful -- also straightforward. She'll tell you how you've been doing and what you need to do to get what you want, and if you look like you're trying, she'll usually throw some stuff in. I used to play pretty high at the Palms, back when I had money, but not large-sized fish, and she would frequently just take care of my whole bill, when perhaps I should have paid for that dinner at Nine.
