Does Southpoint still have those free midnight shows, Patsy?   I believe it was a comedy show....can't remember the name, but might have had Midnight in the title.

Edso

SP website still lists "The Dirty At 12:30" on Friday late night/Sat early AM.

It's free, definitely dirty humor.

Saw it three years ago, kind of sophomoric humor, but what do you expect when the whole audience is tired and/or drunk? It's free, and worth every penny.

It quite frankly wasn't all that good, because yeah, you got a buffet twofer, but you had to invest a minimum of three hours standing in line (and eventually eating) to obtain and redeem it. Figure on a $50 savings or so, and you're selling your precious vacay time for about $17 an hour.

And while lobster is tasty, the rest of the buffet is only so-so IMHO. South Point has much better offerings overall. Plus, when you finish with your South Point meal, there's good gambling to be had. Palms has killed their formerly excellent VP, and while they advertise $5 blackjack, I don't know if it's real blackjack or 6:5 shitjack. SP has $10 3:2 double deck with good rules.

We used this 2for1 and redeemed a second earned buffet for two after gambling last year. I think our wait times were about 20 minutes both times ( shortly after opening on weekdays). The blackjack is 3:2 at that $5 table and the overall rules are reasonable. They also offered $10, 3:2 tables at the same time. It's hard to get a seat sometimes as one would expect. That was based on visits late Nov. last year..assuming they haven't tanked those conditions currently. We'll find out first hand next week.

The buffet offerings were actually pretty good , too. The LVA coupon was a decent deal. Value-wise overall, the South Point buffet is still strong, though.

Glad you had good experience.Palms did give me some birthday perks.I just don't remember.I think free slot play.

Let us know about the BJ games. Someone said that the low limit games are CSMs, which doesn't hurt the Basic Strategy player other than speeding up the game.

It would be nice to know about their rules, like resplitting Aces, doubling after splitting, and such. I assume they hit soft 17 and you can double on any first two cards.

I wonder if you earn any players' club points while playing those games. My guess would be, very few, if any.

Yes, the games I played in Nov last year players could resplit aces to four hands along with DAS; late surrender, too. Due to the low house edge, one can earn points but it is painstakingly slow and inefficient with the low minimums wagers.  If a player played all day, he might get a sandwich out of it if he didn't spill beer on the felt or piss off the pit critters. Yes on the CSM's. Tradeoffs of course but it's refreshing due to the conditions and rules vs most other Vegas options. I'll be verifying these conditions next week. We'll see.
