Plaza Free Play: Meh

I'm glad the MRB includes a $10 free play coupon at the Plaza. But it's less valuable than others like it.

It requires the player to earn 35 points before redeeming. At video poker, that requires $350 of play.

Of course that's completely doable. But compared to other MRB freeplay offers (Ellis Island: $10. DTG and El Cortez: nothing), it's not as attractive.

It's more of an "if you're there playing anyway" coupon.  Meh value but still positive.  On 9/6 JoB, expected loss on $350 is about $1.75.  If you want to be conservative and assume no royal earning those points, figure about $8.75 expected loss, so it's still slightly positive.  But yeah, meh.

For a decade at least, that coupon has been simply: redeem to get $10 free slot play. No play requirement. But some idiot bean counter wanted to make it slightly less valuable. And of course, it's worth nothing-ish to a slot player, unless, as you note, you're playing there anyway.

The above poster is talking about Huntington Press too.

He NEVER misses an opportunity be needlessly insulting.

And what opportunity are YOU not missing, to make that gratuitous and yes, insulting remark?

I'm obviously not criticizing Huntington Press here, because it wasn't their decision to devalue the coupon. Duhhh.

Nothing new - SOP for years.....

My apologies on interrupting the usual suspects with their usual nonsense.  Is it ok to post something productive on this forum anymore?

Play the LVA FSP coupon on a Monday to stack with the 100pt PopUpPizza promo.

Go after 4p so you can get your pts at Sand Dollar Bar to hopefully hit a RF and redeem that coupon for another $500.

Good Call, Ploppy.   Need to hit the Plaza on my next trip at the end of the month.  Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that Huntington Press walks a fine line on these coupons every year - trying to find a way to give us value, while also avoiding casinos losing their shirt on an offer (and not renewing, or ending it early). Having some sort of "earn X points before using promo" is a reasonable solution, and not uncommon in the MRB. It's still a +EV coupon, and even better if you do your play at Sand Dollar.
