Sam's Town Comp

While checking possible dates for an Oct, I thought I'd check rates for Sam's Town. These days I normally spend the first two nights with friends in Henderson and then three at MSS.

I thought if rates were ok at ST, I'd do 2+2 with MSS. Low and behold ST comes up comped!

Understand, I haven't stayed there in 20 years and haven't played much there either. I checked other Boyd properties and only the Orleans (used to stay there also) came up comped. The third night at ST came up with a low rate plus RF, but that's ok. I'm still getting

three nights with tax and RF for about $50. Forgot to mention I only play2-3 hours a day, so I don't see comps, only discounts. The only reason for the comp might be random choice through data base, maybe of former hotel guests. Whatever it is, I;m a happy camper.

Keep checking the other Boyd locations. You will find that the comped rooms will show up the closer you get to your arrival date in Vegas. I have done this many times. I have found that saphire card members get up to 2 comped nights at all of the Boyd properties ( when available). I have not been allowed to get 3 consecutive comped nights at any of their properties - I believe that 2 nights is the limit.

I'll keep that in mind for the future as this trip is locked in. I'm a Ruby cardholder and if they had one lower, they'd give it to me. Since I'm not playing golf anymore I've been increasing my play, so that should help some. Truth be told, if I could get a couple of comped nights per trip at MSS, Cal or ST I'd be very happy. Those are really the only properties I'm interested in. The exception might be the Suncoast as it's one of the few locals joints I haven't stayed at.I won't hold my breath for that one. Thanks for the reply.

There's anecdotal evidence of Boyd taking shots in the dark by sending offers to players based on unknown criteria. To get those offers, you apparently don't have to be Sapphire or Emerald, and you don't have to have visited/played at a Boyd property recently.

Not everybody gets those offers--in fact, most people don't, including those who might think they have earned them. It's probably based on some arcane marketing and demographic data that you didn't even know they had access to, like your favorite brand of mouthwash or something. One thing's for sure--it's been attempted by hundreds of people, so far without success, to divine Boyd's new comps and offers criteria. People with the same amount of action, in the same time frame, get generous offers, skimpy offers, or no offers. There's no apparent logic to it.

I assumed it had to be something along that line. Past numbers just didn't warrant it. Even back when I stayed there all the time, I only received some discounted offers and just one comp over those 3-4 years. The possible silver lining for the future is that without golfing any longer, I plan to play more this trip than previously. I don't plan to chase or "buy" any comps, but I will be playing more. If things start going south I'll ease up and revert to normal. If I'm ahead or even, I'll keep the pace up as long as I keep my head in it. This has always been the reason I kept play short. I can get bored whether I'm ahead or behind. We'll see which of me shows up.

Mss,The Fremont ofers. I played a little at both properies and lo and behold, 2 nights each of my choice and 2 comp nights at The El Cortez for October. Week/weak days of course. The weird news is that got offers for 2 nights at the GG and a discount at The Golden Butt Nugget with NO PLAY AT ALL!

It's like these casinos share info around the same time for around the same level info. What else can it be that the offers came at around the same time, For an October stay.  No logic to this unknown theory..

"Yes,your honor,I was IN TOWN,but not gulty of a tresspass."

No offers from the 4 Queens.

Sure, I gambled a half-ton of $$$$ at The Downtown Grand and they also offered me 2 comp nights. That was expected.

It seems like their computer system is connected.

If one place wants me back, 2 other ones do also?

Some one is pushing buttons and we do not have  the  logic behind this..

Probably the same business graduate that dreamed up this  Boyd Tier system.

I tried to be loathsome, but failed.

Ric at Joes, be careful about that 3rd night with Resort Fee at ST.  I've written about this until I'm sick of it myself, but I did the same thing once, attached one paid night to two comped nights.  Granted, mine was on the Strip and hopefully Sams is different, but at the end of my stay I was 'surprised' to see I was charged the RF for all nights, not just the one with the rate.  Plus the RF taxes for all nights.  It cost me a bundle more than I had counted on.  Actually back then RFs were just getting going.  Nobody whom had I spoken with to make the reservation mentioned the resort fee on the additional night or that it would be assessed even on the comped nights.  So each 'comped' night cost $30 or so RF PLUS the taxes.  Hope it works out fine, but do check.

Duly noted. My confirmation spells out the total cost of the three nights. It shows each of the first two nights as comps and a rate of $32 plus taxes for the third night. Then a notation below states a resort fee will apply to the paid night. Thanks for the reply.
