Sam's Town Host

I just noticed on VPFREE2 that long-time host Johnny Difulvio is apparently no longer at Sam's Town. Anyone have any details about what happened? Did he retire or was this a result of something else?

We were transferred to him about a year ago after the surprising "retirement" of our previous host there.

Thanks for any info - Jimbo
Yes, Johnny is gone, as is Phil Kuta!!!

Our comfort zone there no longer exists.

There is 1 host left, forgot his unimportant name.

Now we have a reservation for Feb. We are going to

see how that goes before we further book at Sam's.

I suggest you call as they will have a person assigned to
you. We are still unsure if we want to work with our new
person.

Sam's was to be our #1 play casino this year. Not
so sure now!!!!

Johhny was host for both of us. Yesterday we each received a letter from Sam's Town saying "We have recently undergone some restructuring and some of our team members who have assisted you in the past have moved on to persue other opportunities."

The letter goes on to say to call the writer for anything we need. The writer is John Sou, VP and General manager of Sam's Town.

Johnny was a great host and will be missed. I remember seeing him about 20 years ago, charging around the casino, schmoozing a $5 player in the high roller area. If anyone knows where he goes, please PM us.

Sam's Town is and always has been our #1 play. It probably will stay that way for this year anyway, since Stations have gone off the cliff.

We got that same letter... Same person, John Sou, with Ronnie Highsmith
as his backup. We have met them both and had conversations in the past,
especially with Ronnie. He is almost always out on the casino floor and
will stop for a chat.
We had a call from John, but we were out at the time. His message was
'call me'. Johnny would have called back.
Johnny knew exactly what we liked and took care of things without asking.
We'll miss our visits with Phil too.
We have a trip coming up next week for my birthday. We'll see how things
are in the casino and else where with all
the cuts going on. Then we can make a choice whether to
book the event in March.

I have not received a letter yet but did call several days ago to see if Kathi Gant was still there and was told the only host left was Henry Forte. And I've never heard of him.
We too were extremely disappointed to hear that Johnny D and the other hosts are gone from Sam's Town. We were out there last week for the Sweetheart Ball and met with John Sou. He said all the hosts were gone and he and Ronnie Highsmith would take care of our needs in the future. Heard from some staff that Johnny went to Mesquite. They treated us well on this trip but we had to ask for things that Johnny would have taken care of without us asking (it was my birthday). Like many others, we are taking it slowly to see how things develop and what changes are in store. They are taking quite a risk because many of us are ready to bolt.
From what we heard, Johnny decided that Mesquite was too far to drive!!!

He is still looking. Johnny says he really wants to work, he seems to love it!!!

Last week all went quite well during our stay. We had sent a quick email to

John Sou stating how we would miss Johnny and that he always knew our

needs without having to ask. So when we walked into our room, there was

a huge arrangement of roses, a bottle of wine, 2 glasses & the wine opener,

and in the refrigerator was a container of chocolate covered strawberries.

All this for my bday. John also called the room to chat a while. He did not

disappoint us this trip. We booked our March trip when we got home.

Belated Happy Birthday! It is such a shame how in the last 2 years Sams has dropped. I never thought ES Cannery would have THAT much of an effect on them. We haven't been back for almost 2 years ever since the offers went south. So glad you had a good time. Hey did you dine at Billy Bobs and is it still as good? Jon

Yes,we ate at Billy Bob all 3 nights. The menu has changed a little. They have cheapened out on the breads
and no longer make their own salad dressings. The steaks are still as good. We always ask for Maury
if we want a laugh.
Just got a letter from ST letting me know that my new host is John Sou, VP & General Manager. Told me to make sure I call him to make reservations on my next visit.
His backup is Ronnie Highsmith, the assistant GM.
Wonder how many freebees I'll get from him.
