Sams Town Host on Steroids

I got a personal letter a couple of weeks ago from the General Manager telling me to contact him for reservations, etc. Kind of blew it off. I've pretty much done without a host at Sams for years and didn't think I would get much out of him.

So I check in last Wednesday afternoon and who should come racing down the stairs to greet me, John Sou, the General Manager. Color me impressed!
We talked for about 5 minutes and he was very gracious to my wife. He told me to be sure to contact him if I needed anything.

And if I couldn't get a hold of him on his cell, call his Assistant, his Secretary and as a last resort Henry Forte, the Exec Casino Host. Gave me cards for everybody.

This experience, plus the Gold Card, plus it being a lucky casino for me will bring me back!
Very nice, Captain Bill!

I do wonder if some of this behavior from them is coming from the fact that you're from out-of-town plus play at what they may consider to be a decent enough level (considering the economy now). Maybe they view you to be on a higher level than you would be if the economy was better.

Rec, thats my thinking too. Makes you wonder how many Emeralds they get there. I play at a decent level, but not over the top...maybe put thru $50k on a 3 night visit.
And Captain Bill, I should also say that I do think that some of this is probably coming from the fact that Sam's Town is a Locals' Casino and not one of the heavy hitters on the Strip and so you may now (in light of the economy) be viewed as a "Big Fish In A Small Pond" since you still have the $ to bet and still do bet at that level nowadays instead of cutting down or off your betting as others have done!

And now, thinking about this some more, based on what you said in your previous post, for Sam's Town, I think that maybe people playing $50k of coin-in over a 3 night period is now viewed as being pretty huge (relatively) for them. They could be viewing you as some kind of relative "Whale."

Enjoy your 'whaleness' while it lasts!
My thoughts exactly...never thought I would be called a "whale". Thanks for the thought Rec.
Pretty obvious to me that if the General Manager of a casino comes "racing down the stairs" to greet you, they consider you a big player. Enjoy the comps they give you Captain.

You're quite welcome, Captain Bill! I realized that this had to be the case because why on G-d's Earth would the General Manager come down right away to greet you and basically offer you anything you wanted?

He must be tickled pink to have someone like you playing there because nowadays, either not many people can bet that kind of money for that long of a time or they are not doing it there (they might be doing that on The Strip, but not at Sam's Town). So yes, you've become a Big Fish in a Small Pond!

Enjoy the ride while it lasts, Cap'n. Casinos can be pretty fickle!

We had a similar experience our last visit. Had a letter to call John S, Ronnie H or Dawn for our next stay. So we called one of the numbers and Dawn picked up and took care of our reservation. At check in, their was a note to have 1 of the "hosts" greet us on our folio. Ronnie showed up within a few minutes, welcomed us and explained the since our former host had left (Johnny D) That they did not want to drop any balls, or have us feeling left out. We probably chatted for 10 minutes. Ronnie seemed like a nice guy. I thought it was a nice touch, having experienced other hosts leaving other propertys. Perhaps Boyd is squeezing the property's, and the staff is making do with what they have?
