Stations offers going over a cliff

That would explain our station offer, as well.
Since my 1/13 posting, in addition to the mailing, we've received quite a few e-mails from Boulder Station detailing promotions, room offers, Railhead entertainment listing, etc.
Identical offers for the wife and myself - 7 nights max and except for nine dates, Feb.-Mar.-April. every day is listed as "free."
However, no free buffets or 6X point days.
BUT does say "no hidden fees" (no resort fee??)
Also, like others, nothing from any other station casino.
still wish Aliante was part of the Station chain..we would have loved to have had the above offer from aliante! we generally go to Boulder one night while staying at Sam's Town, but did stay at Boulder five nights in 2012, which must have qualified us for the above offer.
New motto appears to be: "we ONLY love locals."

Double ditto here!! I got a specific 2/1-4/30 for Sunset Station with the 3 days more more than 7 etc.

My problem is that I havent stayed or played at the Sunset in over a year. I have played and stayed at Sante Fe 3 times since i played/stayed at SUNSET. Only other offer I have is from Palace Station for 4/28-30.

I actually like Sunset more than Sante Fe but my girl love(d) Sante fe. The heck with them now!!

According to VP Free, Palace Station and both Fiestas have pulled about half of their Optimum over 100% machines. They are really close to me dropping them altogether. I'm definitely going to give Aliante some play in April.

I was at Fiesta Rancho yesterday and while I didn't check the whole casino, I did notice 2 banks of machines that used to be Optimums and are now the "99.8%" machines instead. These are multi-game multi-denom machines with some pretty good paytables. The advantage to these over the Optimums is that you earn full points, whereas with the Optimums, you get shorted on points.

That may be their motto, but not their practice, given the local offers my wife and I have received over the last few months. We're both platinum level, and they offer a total of $5 in free play, and one period of "mystery free play" during the month, which ended up being a whopping $2 last time (woohoo, really made me mark the next period on the calendar!). Oh, and a BOGO coupon to the buffet. Yawn.

Same for the Wildfire properties, where I like to go for burgers and wings while playing.

GVR still gets our business as it's the closest casino to us, but it's getting to the point that we're spending more time elsewhere on the weekends.
Thanks for all the responses. When we were at GVR in Jan on what looks like will be our last comped nights there, we saw them dismantling the Optimums near the Cafe in the wee hours of the morning. Funny how they do it late at night when many serious crimes are committed. We were going to chain ourselves to the machines because that was our favorite bank of Optimums but we were tired and hoped that they were just moving them so we went to sleep instead. Now, according to VPFree, most Optimums have been removed from all Stations properties. Another favorite casino bites the dust.
We are watching a sad story unfold. For many of us the Stations were our favorite resting place. they treated you well and always had the door open.

I remeber my first visit to the Palace Station after I heard about them while playing downtown. I took the local (I think rio Grande) bus to the Palace. My play that day led to at least a dozen comped stays over the next 5-6 years.

Maybe the Venetian and Palazzo jerking their customers 2 years ago paid off for them and now the Stations are doing the same thing!

Hey Champ,

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that casinos are fickle beings.

What I mean by this is that they "love" you more and want you to come back if you haven't been there in a while -- you know the old saying that "Absence makes the heart grow fonder."

And so casinos may think that if you just give them play anyway, that they no longer have to give you much to entice you to come -- that people'll just come anyway at any cost because they "love" the place.
