The LVA coupon page claims that getting an extra $5 slot play for every 50 points has a "value" of $100. That seems a bit of an exaggeration, doesn't it?

No, if you max it out with 500 points ($5K through the machines), you get the $100 free play. Now what you do once you get that $100 free play can be anywhere from $0-?. But if you just play it back in vidoe poker at quarter 5 play, good chance you get at least $80. I did $115 at the D in June. I'm going to do the same coupon at Golden Gate on my trip in 2 weeks....if they let me. I'm wondering since it is the same slot club, if you can use both of those coupons. It is a pretty good low-roller coupon actually. Basically 2%er.

If you want to be precise, the value of a "play X, get Y" coupon is (the cost of playing X + the value of Y).
The best machines at these joints are usually 8/5 Bonus, and I'll use that for my example, even though there may actually be better machines--I haven't darkened the doorstep of the GG or the D lately. As Jerry points out, you need to run $5K through the machines to get the $100 free play. That will cost you ($5000 x -0.83), since 8/5 Bonus returns 99.17% with perfect play (and it's a very easy game to learn, so let's assume you do indeed play optimally). This calculates to a loss of $41.50.
Then you have the $100 free play, which played back through the same machines, should net you a little over $99.
Thus, you suffer a $41.50 loss, and receive $99 back for your trouble. Thus, the maximum value of the coupon is a bit more than $58.
Not $100.
Yes, Kevin is right on. I'm looking at it the same way. I'm just adding the 2% to the 99.17% gm to figure I'm playing at 101.17% for $5K through. There is I think .05 slot club back too. Also, you can play their bank of progressives that will add something to the normal 99.17% return. So maybe scraping at 101.22+%. Does that sound right, Kevin? Let's ditch the progressive "add" and go with 1.22% at $5K comes darn to close to Kevin's $58 figure. To me, it is a $60 low-roller EV but heck, two coupons worth.
So for me, I'll predict I lose about $250 earning the $100 free play......as I will play the game at about 95% :)
See MP, I'm nice and answered your question as well.
Thank for the info too Duke!

This info is fine as far as it goes - I will add (1) - there is the possibility of hitting a big paying hand (or many) while obtaining a large number of slot points, which could (2) amount to future room, food, and free slot play offers. 8/5 Bonus poker is a relaltively easy game to learn and play and I imagine that Jerry Ice could play at a better than 95%+ clip.

I can play it 100% accurately but my bad luck will likely only return 95% is what i was trying to say. :)

Yeah, I hear you. When making these kind of plays, you also have to realize that the $58 profit or whatever factors in the occasional royal, so thinking "yeah, but I might hit something big" has to be combined with, "If this damn thing won't even cough up a four of a kind, I'm going to lose a couple hundred, +EV promo be damned."
Or to put it another way, with the royal amounting to 2-2.5% of the payout on most games, even the very best promos, like those offered by the 4Q, will still land you in negative result territory if the Royal Fairy doesn't smile upon you. Our goal back in my AP (team and solo) days was to play at "neutral" with all the accumulated promos and then the inevitable (heh, heh) royal would be all gravy. As in, you actually could play at 0.5% slot club + 2% promo and just wait for the ol' AKQJ10.
And people get all snippy when I remark how much better things were back then.

Karma?
(This sort of nasty talk has no place on this particular forum. I regret the error.)
Not sure why everyone is saying run $5000 through to get the $100 in freeplay. The coupon says earn 50 points to get $5 in freeplay, up to $100 in freeplay. $10 coin in is one point. So, 50 points is $500 coin in and that gets you $5 in freeplay. Earn 1000 points ( $10,000 coin in) and get $100 in freeplay.
You can't play the freeplay through the BP progressives at the bar on the second floor. There is a 7/5 bonus poker single machine progressive on the first floor.
So, your expected loss on the $10k coin in is about $83. This generates $100 in free play, which through the 7/5 BP progressive is about $98. So you make about $15 on the play.
But this does not include the value of the progressive meters, cash back/comp and mailers.
$10k coin in will get you free rooms, a food offer and some additional cash back.
Overall, a very good quarter level play
