Where to get established?

I am heading out to Vegas tomorrow for 5 nights with LVA book in hand.  I currently get room offers at Boyd properties and The D for Sunday through Thursday rooms.  I have to drive ~6 hours to get to Vegas, so I visit about quarterly.  If it were you, where else might you consider playing in order to get on their radar?  I primarilty play 25 cent JoB and Bonus video poker.

I did the promotion a few months back at Four Queens and did get offers for February, but nothing much for March.  I'm guessing this is a busy time of year with March Madness and offers become slim.  I still plan on playing at 4Q and treating myself to some of Magnolia's gumbo.  :)

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I got stiffed for March at 4Q as well.

I would put in some play at Circa. Their VP is shit, though they do have 8/5 Bonus, and the place is a stinking, ridiculously loud hellhole, but they do send pretty decent room offers. The Plaza has good VP and decent offers. The Downtown Grand.is currently being run by mice on hallucinogens, but it's probably worth it to go over there, have a hot dog, run a twenty through their crap VP, and see what develops.

Whatever is cooking at 4Q, you'll be able to play JOB to take advantage of it. Can't beat 0.9% players club return.

We get 3 comped nights a quarter ftom Virgin with very minimal play, but there is really nothing to play there.  But the rooms are nice and they have free parking and no resort fees on comped rooms last we checked.

The Sahara also used to offer free rooms although with resort fees with minimal play.  But again hardly anything to play there, and may start charging for parking.  Rooms not bad.  We used to get rooms all the time at Station , but now just comped rooms at Green Valley Ranch, and we probably play at Stations the most.

The Rio seems to be trending in the right direction, with an easy 4 comped nights with minimal play and free parking, but stupid high resort fees.

I would also recemend getting the Mlife credit card.  This should get you some free room offers and free parking at the MGM properties.

I would not recemend Plaza, Downtown Grand, or Circa, or4 Queens for rooms with minimal play.  We used to get rooms at all of them , but really nothing since covid.  We do get good free play and food at Circa.

As you know it is pretty easy to stay safire at Boyd.  Good luck on the upcoming trip.  We are staying at Suncoast and Green Valley Ranch comped next month

Thank you for the responses.  I am currently staying at The D.  Rooms are basic but definitely fine for me.

I'll take the advice and wander on over to the Downtown Grand and grab lunch and throw a $20 in some VP and see what transpires.

From there, probaby the Vue bar and 4Q.  I also need to flip through my LVA book for a downtown coupon run!

JDC - you are correct sir! The gumbo at Magnolia's is to die for! When Mrs. Don and I play there in the morning I used to get some club sandwiches to bring home for lunch. No more. Its GUMBO.

We get 3 various offers for the D(3 nights), Golden Gate(4 nights) and Circa(2 nights Sun-Thur) and decent food offers. This started with us primarily playing quarter VP with occasional forays into 50 cents or $1 depending on how our luck was going. The comps you earn while you are playing plus the food offers allow us to rarely have to pay for food. You can combine that with LVA coupon for Coney Island at The D. Good for drunchies before bed.

Keep in mind that LVA has the 24 hour play for rewards coupon at The D and another one(same) for Golden Gate. Take it to desk before hand to have them put it on your account, then play for 24 hours. Go back after that timeframe and they give you $5 for every 50 points earned up to a $100 in free play. My wife and I always take advantage of that.

Anyway, if you can stand the music the bartenders tend to be friendly and good with service/drinks at the Stevens properties and we feel like we get a decent return for our style of play.

BTW, the comp dollars that you earn can be used for other places to eat downtown like Pizza Rock and Le Thai and some others.

When I was there in February, the server told me the price of the gumbo was going up. Mumble mumble. Well, it's still good. Probably going up because it comes from Mexico and is being Trumpiffed. It was a bargain at $6.95 a bowl, with rice.

I've been kind of disappointed in general at how fast and how much prices have been going up at Magnolia's and across the street at Binion's Cafe, because there simply aren't any viable coffee shop-style options downtown any more that aren't really upcharging. I usually stay at the 4Q, but I'm hard-pressed to pay $20.95 for an omelet and coffee at Magnolia's when I can hop in the car and have that same breakfast for half the price at Emerald Island.

Heh. "If you can stand the music." That's the kicker. Why Stevens properties all wnat to make you bleed from the ears is something I can't understand, and has kept me out of the D and Circa.

I didn't know you could use Stevens comps at Le Thai. That place is awesome!

Le Thai, Pizza Rock, 7th and Carson, Pizza Rock and Nacho Daddy. You can use earned comps, but not monthly food offers.

Sounds like you prefer downtown.Caesar's Rewards if you have a high tier.

My son has diamond status. At least for now.He has for several years got us comp weekday rooms. No resort fee,and free parking. That is usually Flamingo or Harrahs.Orher properties have various fees.At various times.Like everything much more generous before Covid .
