where to stay, where to stay?

We are in the midst of planning our September trip, and have got the first three nights and the last four nights covered at the D and the Orleans, respectively. We are hoping for an offer from Aliante Station to fill in three nights in the middle, but in case this doesn't come through are also looking at some independent properties with an eye toward possible future comped stays. We don't need high-end, but do want to stay someplace away from the strip with a pool. Not a hip party pool - just a place to get wet. So far the most likely options seem to be South Point or Silverton. Both seem to be reasonably priced, and each seems to have a loyal following.
So the question is - which one would you recommend? By way of background we normally visit only once a year. We are both in our 50's, so partying isn't high on our to-do list (actually it isn't anywhere on the list!) and we will have a car, so driving distance isn't an issue.
Thanks is advance for any suggestions, and if you have another option you'd like to recommend please feel free.
I would choose the Silverton. I have given them a moderate amount of play and have received great room and free play offers. I enjoy the location and if you are gambling they have free Starbucks coffee.
Sunset Station wouldn't be a bad choice. Has a nice pool too - though maybe a little small.

Room rates are usually pretty reasonable, and the buffet is better than South Point's, and Silverton's.
Nothing against Silverton, but I'd go for the Southpoint....an excellent pool area. Great rooms, excellent bedding....and good VP. Ask for a higher floor room if you want a view of something as the cheapest rooms are lower level with walls or AC units as your view.
I'll even give you the name of Courtney Whitaker, a very nice slot host there. After your stay you could talk to her about comping all/part of your room and/or food. Southpoint doesn't send out much in mailers, but I've found that all of their hosts are generous with comps for mid level players.

I can definitely say a small gift card (not cash) works wonders in her remembering who you are for the next trip.

Good luck

We stayed at the Sun Coast and really enjoyed it. Nice small pool but not too busy. It is also a B Connected like your Orleans stay and all the points will work for both. They have a nice buffet and a 5 times comp coupon in the ACG book, I believe a buy one get one buffet in LVA book and they gave us a free breakfast for staying.

Its out of the way and quiet and rooms are similar to the Orleans.
Thanks to all for your suggestions. We still haven't made up our minds but will certainly look at each of the properties you've mentioned. This will be our sixth trip in five years, and every trip since our first one we have always had room offers from Stations. Looks like this time the only offer we will have is from the Fremont, and DH wasn't too impressed with their rooms. It may be time to give another property some play and see what happens.
I'm not crazy about the idea of using a host. I don't have any idea if the amount of play we would give them would even warrant a comp, or if they would just laugh at the very idea.
Sura: a number of us have Courtney at SP as their host and we all give her very high marks. I only stay at SP once a year because I try to spread my stays around at various places, but she always remembers me and comps room and food. I'm not a high roller by any means - play mostly vp with some bj.
(She's the only LV host that I have; I followed her to SP from when she was at the Gold Coast!)
