Will my host answer this question...

I would like to have a better handle on how my comps are calculated on a given trip. I am assuming it is a simple equation. On my last visit, I know that I probably could have reserved a cabana and that would have been covered in addition to my other expenses because I put it a lot of gambling time. I may or may not add extras like that depending on whether I think it will be comped on the trip so I'd like to keep track.

If my up front offer included 3 nights and food credit, do I have to "earn" that before my play would go toward additional expenses?

Is it likely that my host will share this type of information with me?
Lauren- you are a busy little bee on the boards, with your new headshot.

You should try to get that info at least at the start of your stay.

Gotta wonder what casino/group are you talking about?
There is a big difference in how they All Usually do it.

I suppose I am posting a lot lately. I guess that's because I'm just getting ready for my next trip - I'm always excited a few weeks beforehand! I'm very busy with work in October/November so I'm getting my LVA Forum time in now. I stay at Red Rock and have had a host there for past 18 months or so. Perhaps I'll email her in the coming week and she will answer all my questions before my trip on the 23rd.
Normally what you recieve in the mail for offers is a result of your previous play. You earn extra comps during your stay from your host using a theoretical value based on your playing. What that formula is I'm sure varies from place to place. Things like a cabana are a hard to get comp-I don't know why unless they figure you'll be at the pool all day and not play at all. Meals and shows that are easier comps and are short deviations. A host we work with at the Orleans we have kmown for 3-4 years and we check into see her most days to see if what we are thinking of doing would be covered. If she says no, thats fine. At least we know before we do it and get caught with the expense. BTW RR is a great place to stay-we've always enjoyed it.

I think Hosts understand that you might have family, loved one or friends that could use the cabana all day-
they always review your play b/f check out.
I mean it's not like we don't LIKE to gamble..
I swear to God Lauren, sometimes Hosts are NOT in on the hows and whys especially in this fast changing economy. Casinos don't know what to cut next.
Well, I had a brief conversation with my host yesterday. Here's what I got out of the conversation:
1. For non-locals, any comps you might have earned on a previous visit (but didn't use) do not roll over to future visits. I thought she would say that, but I just had to confirm.

2. In response to my question about how I could monitor my play to see how I was doing, she said that there is no real formula for the slots but that as far as craps goes (one of my main games), it takes about 4 hours with an average bet of $100 for a room comp. But my room is already comped up front so what does that even mean in my situation??

I was surprised regarding the slot information - I would think that there would be a specific amount of dollars through the machine that would equate to something? She did say that I could check in with her during my stay to see if my play will rate extra comps (like the massages that Jan and I have booked on Saturday) and gave me some specific times that she would be on the property over the weekend.

And then an interesting thing happened... I was going over the details of this trip (In addition to our suite, I had previously emailed her to book 2 additional rooms for friends who are joining us as well as booking a cabana for both Saturday and Sunday). I had received an email from her with the cabana rates ($200 per day), and so I told her that the casino rate on cabanas had been $160 for me in the past... and then we figured out that I had only booked them on weekdays so that was why I had never seen the $200 rate. Based on that, I said that we would just book the cabana for one day instead of two. She then told me that in addition to comping my suite up front (I've had the difference between a room and suite comped at the end of a trip but never up front before) that she was going to comp the cabana for the one day as well, explaining that she was doing that because there had been some confusion with our cabana reservation on a previous visit, so she would make it up to me by comping it this time! I know some of you might be used to this level of comping, but this kind of thing never happened to me when we stayed at Paris. I love Red Rock. I know many of you like to stay at lots of different properties but I like keeping my play at one place so that I can get the most comps possible.

So since the suite is comped, I've got $200 worth of food credit coupons, and the cabana is also being comped, I hung up with her and immediately booked the massages for me and my lovely wife for Saturday morning. I am VERY excited about this trip. Have I mentioned that I love Red Rock?
Well, you certain got a lot of info from
the conversation you had with your host. LOL

Me? I don't have the energy or inclination to do that. That's one of the reasons why I never use hosts any longer.

My M.O. is to go by what is offered up front.
If I want or need something else then I call downstairs and whoever answers the phone in
casino marketing is my instant host.

M Hotel seems to be a horse of a different color.
I am now on their mailing list for comps.
However, their mailer comps are not very enticing for me. It's a monthly post card offering me a free room and something small like a bottle of wine.

The host who came to my table (twice in my last 2 visits there) said they don't send mailers for what I want (RFB with a suite). She said
for that I need to call her.

I told her I hate doing that. LOL

Anyway, I may bite the bullet if I ever decide to stay there. I did let her know in a very nice
way that they are out in the wilderness. LOL

You know, she told me they only have about 300 some rooms which is kind of surprising
considering how big the place is.

I get the feeling they are more of a locals place. Every time I go in there that's all they seem to have at their tables is local folks. LOL

I think I'll devote some play at Cosmo on my next visit and see what happens there.

Man..
jjjj21,
I'd make those calls for you-I'd be happy to; Love being a P.A.
"Hello.. yes..Mr. 21 will be in Vegas on these dates- what could he expect from you(se)?!? sniff... really? I see/ I'll relay the message and get back to you(se). 'ta fer now"

Lauren, as you already know.. The Hosts take a gamble on us and we take a gamble on the Hosts.

Thanks, JM!!

However, I already have people for that
if I ask them to which I rarely do.
Now, my wife...

No, I'll continue to play my cards the way I
have grown accustomed to the last 10 or so years. If they want me badly, send me an email
or snail mail or otherwise leave me alone. LOL

I just want to come in and have everything set up with no strings, no host chatting, just let me gamble in peace.

That's why I'm staying at Aria again.
They don't bother me.

You know, I talk to people all day long
so I don't yearn for it when I take a break.

As you know, my down time is staring at a blank wall.

My doctor kindly describes that as meditating. LOL

BTW, are you still the same size?

a sharp host would note that and shoot you a once a month e-mail reminder/offer.

size 6-8 ( that means well cut small for the non-gay)
I'm 5'6 and work out/walk alot, long lean muscles but weigh 126/128- guess i look smaller
I can wear tight but prefer loose.
You know what's a big hit w/ me? That's B&W silk chiffony thing that's sheer and goes over something.
It dressed anything up, doesn't wrinkle in the drawer and washes like a dream. TY again

I don't have a blank wall in 20 miles of me; everything is graffettied- I could stare at my unopened Nook..can I reach Nirvana w/ my eyes closed? or is that called "sleeping"?
