Affordable Downtown Dining Options?

If you're going to gamble, both plaza and downtown grand have specials for earned points. Downtown grand is $14.95 prime rib dinner or cheaper burger or chicken. Plaza usually has pizza Monday, Taco Tuesday, Hawaiian Thursday where it's a specified meal for free with the required play.

Some words of caution about the "Free Meal" at the Plaza.   First, it is only available after earning slot points, not video poker.  If you use a typical 93-ish% expected value in the slot play, for the amount of points required for the "free" meal, you'll find you will be significantly better off paying for the "free meal" out of pocket rather than playing the promo.   Not to mention in a bad session, you'll lose many times the cash price of the meal.   Not an "affordable" dining experience that the OP is looking for.

It ain't a free meal--it's a free snack. One slice of pizza, one taco, etc. And you have to run $1000 through a slot machine to get it.

Since when is the Plaza deal only for slot play?  It's been about a year, but last time we were there, points from VP play would also get you the daily snack.

VP action still qualifies for the Mon-Thr 100pt dining deals.   Was just there earlier this month and no problem.   Nothing has changed.  VP has always qualified for this promo.  The report above is NOT accurate.

What HAS changed in the past year is how much coin-in per point on VP.   Used to be $3/pt and now it's $10/pt.

allright, then walk the six blocks down to casa del sabor and get $2.50 street tacos with a $2 side of beans and rice.

but only during the daylight!

You can always get a breakfast sandwich's and coffee at McDonald's at the D, have the lunch specials at LeThai and have  money leftover for a decent dinner at Magnolias at the Four Queens. Plus have a  midafternoon snack; a hot dog and cup of beer at the Downtown Grand for $2.
