Any reviews for The Flame @ ELCO?

Is this the best for steak downtown?
I read somewheres that there are tv's in the dining area? Kinda tacky, I think.
You can often get really good discount vouchers at Restaurant.com. I have read several reviews - all of them good. Haven't been myself yet - looking forward to it next trip.
Not for tv watching, just a scene-no program. This is old style Vegas. They still have the guy playing standards on the organ. We just ate there a couple of weeks ago and the meal was great. I had a huge NY strip and the wife a filet mignon-both excellent. Nice place, great food, good prices. Coupons in both LVA and American Casino Guide.
The Flame no longer participates in Restaurant.com. You can find a lot better steakhouses downtown than at the Flame, but it offers good value with one of those MRB or ACG coupons.

I have to agree with Westie. This is a coupon or bust option as far as I'm concerned.
Not the fanciest place, but the food is very good. One ofmy favorites.I only wish they would bring back the lobster tails.

Do you know if they still honor Restaurants.com Gift Certificates? I have two. Thanks

I ate at the Flame Steakhouse at the El Cortez just a couple of nights ago. I used the $30 off coupon from the LVA book. It was probably the 6th or 7th time I had eaten there. The prime rib was very, very good. The garlic mashed potatoes were pretty good and my glass of wine (about an $8 or $9 cabernet) was good as well. My friend also had the king cut prime rib plus a beer. Our meal with one drink each plus the side was a litte over $70 but down to a little over $40 after the coupon. It was a great deal as always but I don't need the coupon to want to eat there.

I've also had a really good steak downtown at the Redwood Bar and Grill in the California Hotel (but I think there's one night a week that it is closed) and at Binion's Steakhouse atop Binion's with a nice view. Both are pretty affordable compared to steakhouses on the Las Vegas Strip.

T.H.
Probably the best all around value Steakhouse in Vegas - IMO. With coupons, discounts, and comps last year I got an appetizer, entree, 2 sides, dessert, and wine for $1.98.

My Filet Mig was as good as any downtown...albeit thats not the most challenging dish to cook. The menu is not creative in any way...but they use high quality ingredients and put out dishes that easily make the "fine dining" echelon. I've met very few people who have been disappointed with a meal there.

They did a refresh of the ambiance a couple years ago. For me, its perfect. Its elegant enough to create a nice atmosphere without being pretentious. Not too much of a dress code. I typically wear jeans and a casual shirt. Thats about the same as most diners there.

Are there higher quality joints in town? Yes. And they will certainly be more expensive too.

It is great food for the value, especially if you use any of the coupons. Tenderloin is awesome. Ask for Linda for a waitress. She will treat you right.
