Any reviews of R Steak at the Riviera?

For the guys trip in March we used to always hit the Flame for steak one night. Since that's no longer an option (sniff), we were thinking of the using the LVA two-for-one at R steak. Anybody have a review? Thanks for all replies.
Tough to beat for the coupon from your TripAdvisor book.

We had a filet, calamari that was enough to feed 3. They have a small but reasonably priced wine list. We got a bottle of Liberty School Cabernet for $30 or so if I remember correctly.

The only issue for us is how to get there without paying more for the transportation than the savings you get from coupon. If you have your own car or gonna rent one then you will be good to go. We don't like taking public transportation in Vegas, especially the Strip.

You could parlay your trip to the Riv to also use your coupon for tix to the comedy show as well. A good night of entertainment and food for a reasonable price.

Hope this helps.

Fred
Thanks Fred! We always do a North Strip day to hit Riv, Circus, LVH and Sahara/SLS, so we'll be down there anyway.

We usually take the monorail from mid-strip. Like having your own private subway car!
Wife and I have been to R Steak on 3 different occasions. Food always outstanding.
Odd situation with service once. Server was excellent, but mid-way thru meal she was replaced. No staff members said what happened. And of course, the person that took her place was not as good.

Had a meal there with the coupon. The food was WAY WAY WAY oversalted. The place is nice, and the service was fine.
Just ate there last night. We did the $22 complete meal deal. That gets you your choice of 4 different complete meals. I opted for the prime rib, caesars salad, green beans, and awesome mashed potatoes. My girl went for the sea bass, caesars salad, carrots w/ spinach and pearl onions. There also were two other choices for the $22 complete dinner. I think the options were a chicken dish and another steak option. We got there early at 5PM. This allowed us to get a limited menu of high end drinks and wine for $6 each. We both really enjoyed our meal and the service. They allowed us to use the LVA coupon on the complete meals. As a side note our former #1 place was also the Flame. The complete meal does not include dessert. Happy hour also features half price apps but only if your sitting at the bar.
So, we are going to Vegas in March and are thinking of stopping in the Riveria before it closes. I'm not sure I'm inclined to use the coupons or not. Will the the staff and restaurants all have a case of short timers? Or do you think the service will remain the same? Do I risk it and eat there or just pass the meal and take a spin around the casino?
I have worked conventions at Las Vegas Convention Center for the last 15 years or so. I have been to this joint at least 10 times. Nine out of ten were without a coupon and it was basically an all you can eat and drink affair on a sales man's expense account. I noticed no lack of effort in service yesterday when I dined there on a coupon. Put yourself in the server's position. Sure she/he's making a fixed wage but the real take home wage is dependent on your tip. Do you really think the server isn't going to jump for the acorn? Take into account that his future is uncertain and it may cause him to work even harder now. Call it a get it while you can attitude. Your results may vary.
