Baja Miguels @ South Point

1st the disclaimers. Mexican food is subjective and living in Fort Wayne IN we have not had much experience with good Mexican food. What a deal we found this to be:

Before 3PM you get:

Chips with salsa, refied beans and guagamole (an expensive option locally)

A fish bowl size margarita any way you like it

Fideo soup (great)

Any 2 of enchilada, taco, flauta, or fantastic chilli rellanos

Rice and beans were both better than we had ever had (did not taste like they came from a box & a can)

All for $8.95 and served in a great setting.

I agree with you Keith that opinions on Mexican food vary widely. That being said, I too love Baja Miguels. It is a mainstay on our annual trip, but we usually go for dinner. That lunch is a great deal.
Baja Miguels @ South Pointis a hidden gem. been living in mexico for the past 18 years and by far, they make one of the best margaritas. only been there three times but hope to double that next year.
Oh my! I LOVE Baja Miguels for lunch! The lunch special can't be beat and I love the soup too!

Excellent suggestion KSeitz!

The Orleans had a baja (something) when i visited several years ago. Since they are sister properties I would guess set-up is the same. It was an excellent deal and the food was very good. Have never seen a margarita that large before lol, esp as part of a "value meal".
Thanks for the recommendation.

I spent all but 5 years of my now 64 years in Texas (San Antonio and Dallas) and really miss good mexican food. So far we have not found it in Central Arkansas. I have fresh tortillas FedXed from Central Market in San Antonio so we can brew up our own.

We will definitely give it a try when we are there in December. Afterall, who could pass up a fishbowl sized margarita. Does any way you like it include Top Shelf?

Carol,

Don't know the answer to your question but I doubt it.
I don't know what brand of tequila is used for the margaritas during the luncheon special, but the bartenders using Patron during the $2 Wed-Sun happy hour when we stayed there in May.

I guess my wife and I are the only ones who have had the luncheon special and were disappointed and that was with us using a 2/1 coupon from the 2010 ACG. Here is the related entry in my December 2010 TR:

We ordered the $8.95 luncheon special that includes a margarita, fideo soup and a 2-item combination. We went with a traditional margarita on the rocks and chile relleno/enchilada for our combo. The margarita and soup were good, but Miguel’s interpretation of Tex-Mex was pretty typical (e.g. mediocre) of a casino eatery. ($12.67, ACG, 2 Forks)

As I said "your mileage may differ"
Can you have a fruit margarita with this special? I like strawberry.
