Battista's

Saw Battista's Hole in the Wall mentioned in a recent QOD. Saw a bunch of horrible reviews on this message board but they are 3-4 years old. Still as bad? Could you recommend another (not super expensive) Italian place on or close to the Strip? Thanks!!
Wife and I went there because the line was too long at Ellis Island in April. It was our first time there and we absolutely loved it !!
search the reviews of years ago. This thread would cause such an uproar years ago it was terrible.

I've never been there. too many good places........
If you plan to go, make reservations, otherwise the wait is loooong. I went for the first time in March and was pleasantly surprised. It is what it is. It's not upscale fine dining and it's not a dump. My salmon, garlic bread and cappuccino were delish; salad was average; side pasta bleh; unlimited house red wine, drinkable; unlimited house white wine, not worth tasting.

Lisa, you lost me on the salad was average, side pasta blah and wines drinkable and not worth tasting.
Try Andiamo Italian Steakhouse at the D in downtown.

Mrs. Don and I ate there for the first time this past Saturday. Food was very good and the service was outstanding!!
That's funny--I just logged in because my wife had read about this place and wanted me to post for feedback. We are heading back to Vegas in a few weeks. We try to do a couple unusual things each time we're in Vegas, and I think we will go here for dinner one night. Does anyone know if they still have an accordion player? And I know this is behind the Flamingo--is it right next to Ellis Island? Any addt comments appreciated. Thanks,
Joe
It's located on Audrie (behind the old Bill's) north of Flamingo on west side of the street, not next EI. I've there twice. Once was ok and the other time not so much. This was quite a while ago so I can't comment for these days.

Good Luck!

Yep, the ole accordion player is still there, moving in on 94 years old now. Don't ask HIM his age, he gets very offended and I mean seriously offended. Food is good and the atmosphere is like being in an older Italian restaurant back in the 50's. Lots of memoriabelia and pictures of famous folks who have eaten there. Food price includes everything, including drinks/coffee/wine/etc. Don't plan on it being a fast in and out meal. Plan on enjoying yourself.
We went to Battista's last week when we were in Vegas and had a blast. We try to do a couple quirky things each time we go, and this did the job. You go for the experience, not for gourmet food. The food, by the way, was ok--standard Italian fare, nothing fancy, tasted good. Meal includes unlimited red/white wine, which was better than we thought it might be. Gordie the accordion player was a nice touch. Wall-to-wall photos from 60s-80's, lots of celebrities who ate there.

We found easiest way to get there was to cut thru Bally's all the way back to the sports book and exit stage left through door. That puts you on the street right across from Battista's, so you don't even have to walk down off the strip if you don't want to. Have fun.
